Does anyone else recoil when they look at sharp objects?

I don't generally recoil or flinch at things most people do, just sharp, thin things, so its made me wonder if its an autistic sensory thing. I've always had this and want to understand it. Does anyone else get anything like this?

I definitely do. I can't stand the sight even of blunt knives. I had assumed it was normal.

You'd be well-advised to suppress that reäction: it just signals a weakness for others to exploit.

Oh, my. I'm the complete opposite. If I see something pointy, I just *have to* touch and explore it.

I've always been bothered by knives, but I will use them when I need to.

Only if they are rapidly advancing toward my abdomen.

Sometimes yes because a sharp object can kill you if it is applied in an unfortunate way or you collide with it or you mishandle it... I once was told a medium said to my friend 'The reason you're seeing hooded figures late at night is because you sleep above the knives in the kitchen', this guy was a bit outlandish to say the least though, still makes me wonder whether sharp things are inherently evil!

If I have not taken my meds anything with a corner in my field of view will give me that kind of response and even sometimes will on my meds I will get that as well. Retail stores can be quite unpleasant.

I think this more likely a Visual Looming Syndrome, than Aichmophobia. They are two different things. VLS can be treated with eye muscle exercises.

I used to be afraid of touching sharp objects for fear of accidentally hurting myself, but nothing like what you describe - things have to get at least within a few feet of my eyes before I recoil.

Now when I see a sharp object, I want to hurt myself with it :( I've been having major problems with self-harm lately.
