Yes, O.P. if you tell us your country of residence, some of us may be able to direct you.

As for my "scholarship," it was very strange, but this particular place had some moneys available for those whose insurance didn't cover an evaluation. I was just lucky, I guess.

The reason why a diagnosis was helpful for me was so that I could have a good reason for changing from one therapist to another. As for myself, personally, it didn't matter much. It just confirmed what I knew.

Hi StarTrekker,
I felt simularly because by a diagnosis I would know why I am the way I am, and not blame myself or anyone else for it. It's just me. I am "ME".
For years, prior to the aspergers & ADHD diagnosis I had been given all sorts of labels. Thankfully now that is over.

By the way I very much like your 7 of 9 avatar image.
I always felt sorry for her being seperated from The Borg coz personally I think the Borg are great!! !

We, the people on the Autistic Spectrum have a choice.
We can either try to "fit in" with the rest of society, or we can be so egocentric that we can't be bothered.
I choose the actor. I observe NT's. I listen to their socializing. I practice it, so in social situations I can just emulate/mimic what is expected.
It isn't natural for me, but it enables me to "fit in".
It is VERY tiring and draining, but at least we can appear like them even though it is an act. Like being on the stage.
They can't see it is emulation, and so we are accepted.
