I do this as well when I read books, though I haven't read any fiction book in years. In fact I think the last time I got past a quarter in was around 10 years ago.

I read 'The Day my Bum went Psycho' around 5 times as well as the sequel 'Zombie Bums from Uranus'. I only read 'Bumageddon' 2-3 times though because I was older when that came out.

Every time I went back to the book, I'd see virtually the same story with small modifications that I made if one of the details was incorporated inaccurately.

I visualize a lot too and I do a lot of that when I read. It's really kind of cool. It's one of the ways I learn as well.

I have never heard of these books. Are they actually about bums? That sounds funny. Like bums like street people or buns like your rear end?

Yes they're about actual bums, specifically a 'Great White Bum' that creates a cult sort of bum organization to take over the world and replace human heads with bums. In the first book at least. >.>

Don't most people do this?

I mean practically every literate human being, surely they do?

I'll be very surprised if this isn't the case.
