Call up any local Autism centres even if they are for children and speak to one of their psychs, or even call a children's hospital or a normal hospital and speak to the mental health department. You just need to keep asking for people who can deal with ASD adults and eventually one of your leads will follow through and you will find someone qualified to diagnose. People think answering a few questions a certain way gives you an accurate diagnosis, but it doesn't. ASD isn't just multiple choice questions, it physically manifest itself and a specialist can tell within 3-5 minutes of talking to you if you have it. THEN they will proceed with diagnosis.

Was this physician a general practictioner? Because my general practictioner couldn't even spell "Asperger's".

Not everyone's traits are the same. Mind you, I'm a poster child for what asperger's syndrome should look like, and I have great hygeine, and I'd like to think I'm pretty well organized.

I hate formal tests for that reason, though - I like small talk, I like talking to people. I just happen to be very, very bad at it. We're all different. Social anxiety, obsessions and stimming of some sort are the keys really, all the other things are just random traits some of us have.

That is not true. Social anxiety is not a diagnostic criteria. Stimming and obsessions are only two of the four possible symptoms under part B of the DSM-5 criteria at least; ICD I don't know about.
