Why I use AAC apps

Using it for my self yes, bit I perfer to have people speak to me when they want to communicate with me most of the time, unless they type it to me so I can read it


For time with my loved ones being close and touch has a lot more meaning to me so to engaging in sensory activities with me

It's an interesting coincidence that you mention this; I've been thinking this exact thing for the past few days. I am very interested in this thread because I am finding that speaking, which has always taken effort for me, has become quite tiring. When I think about people I would like to have in my life, I get tired just thinking about talking to them, but being touched, even in a simple way like holding hands, comes with this burst of meaning that is so rich and all-consuming, it's difficult to speak at all, let alone put the experience into words.

Have you ever tried using an aac app or device to see if it helped?

I know the post right above is not for me...
I downloaded a very adaptable word AAC app. It has helped once already, seeing the words before using or speaking to form sentences. I like it :)

Not yet. I think I would get a lot of backlash and considered lazy because I can speak well and no one can tell how tiring it is. I will probably just avoid people.

This author is very verbal, yet uses iPad for alternative:

Helped me in writing to understand AAC which helped me a lot.

Imo, if communication is made when you need it to be, it doesn't matter what the mechanism is! If AAC makes you feel better, why not use it? You'll just need to keep up your typing skills. :)

Thanks to the OP for sharing the blog...

It's really very helpful in understanding whats happening to my own child. She can talk after having a speech delay but much prefers not talking.
