Several times. I posted a thread on the LGBT section about straight pills and NT pills. I made a poll and it asked if they would prefer to take a straight pill or an NT pill. A few users got mad at me and thought my thread was offensive. A few people asked me why I didn't include the option neither. I purposefully didn't include that option because I know that most people on that section are proud of their ASD and sexuality.

I also like to explain some of my points and ideas with metaphors and analogies. I think it's obvious why that causes misunderstandings. I've learned to make my posts more literal.

I can easily relate to this. When I was around your age (ten years or so ago) I had similar issues; I would be very loud and extroverted in situations where I got to set the agenda, but in others I would shrink into my shell for fear of offending anybody (in RL) or spend ages writing and rewriting things (on forums and USENET groups). It got to the point where I nearly resigned from one of the cat club committees I was on as I was not properly contributing to discussions in case I offended somebody; I found it hard to genuinely negotiate with other people, because I was so convinced that there was only one way to do things and that prescribed by Vulcan Logic™.

Sadly, some things can only be learned kinesthetically; by facing the storm and walking into it wearing your armour. Getting out into the world by attending AS support groups and by volunteering (with support) in customer-facing roles was frightening at first, but it saved me; without it, I'd still be having the same sort of issues you describe having now.

in WP polls I do here, I always include the neutral option, "I really like ice cream!" just to give those who don't like my poll options something they can click on. haven't found anybody yet that doesn't like ice cream, but if I do I suppose I will then have to start including a sauerkraut option.
