As much as I hate having to go through severe mental illnesses, they have made me more aware not of just myself but of the role society plays in our lives, or rather, the control it has us under. Probably not 'us' referring to people here but those without any of these issues who have basic to high social skills and are basically just average.

Maybe being that way would make things easier but I wouldn't be me. I wouldn't be self-aware, problem solving, artistically creative and just so different from everyone.

The Unbroken
By Rashani Rea

There is a brokenness
out of which comes the unbroken,
a shatteredness
out of which blooms the unshatterable.
There is a sorrow
beyond all grief which leads to joy
and a fragility
out of whose depths emerges strength.

There is a hollow space
too vast for words
through which we pass with each loss,
out of whose darkness
we are sanctioned into being.
