If we were superior it wpuld not be called a syndrome. Simple as.

If we were superior we wouldnt have all these support services, charity groups, and oh yeah A HUGE ONLINE SUPPORT FORUM.

What else oh yeah there wouldn't be the high number of unemployment rates, suicides, lack of relationships, co-morbids like depression.

I get fed up especially of the people here who feel the need to put others down by how NT they are as if its an insult and how intelligent they are.

Aspie or NT doesn't really matter. People in general suck. They are self-centered and judgmental and it really doesn't matter how their brain works. Not saying everyone is, but people in general. Like I've always said a person can be kind. A person can be intelligent. People, however, cannot.

That is pure reality.

But you are really smart going by your posts! For someone so young you are very wise.

I'll never tolerate anyone that considers a 'type' of person to be superior to another. Id say that in approximately 150% of cases, the idea behind it stems from misconceptions and any associated fear and thus prejudice that results.

Many Aspies seem to pride themselves on their intelligence (self-opinionated). I often notice that as a result they develop misconceptions that any NT must be 'less smarter' than they are. Intelligence is over-rated anyway.. it doesn't get you too far in life, and when you die there are no 'save games' to load from so it goes with you. Sure it may allow for the progression of humanity as a whole, but what does it honestly do for you.

When I was a child, I thought I was superior. As I felt that I was I was independent and objective and not swayed by the masses. This naïve perspective didn’t last long. As I realized that it was a true disadvantage to be this way in today’s society.

You mean they have adaptations that work well in a society that is specifically designed for those adaptions because they are more common than other adaptations are?

There are no such things as strengths and weaknesses in an absolute sense.

Nature creates variations within a species, what is a weakness in one environment can be a strength in another and vice versa.

NTs are merely more adapted to modern societal conditions as they are the ones who designed it.

And that is a shame.

Individual thought is what results in progress, not just following along with the masses because that is what a person is told to do.

The masses can be wrong in so many ways it is unbelievable and it takes someone with courage to stand up and say "excuse me, but you are misinformed/incorrect/mislead" in order to sew the seed so that change can blossom and develop.

Maybe it's not about superiority but the ability to think for oneself is a desirable trait to have in my mind.

Neither superior nor inferior. We are equals. We should learn to cooperate and to take advantage of each others' strengths. A community where diverse people can work together is a stronger, better place.

It's okay to celebrate your skills and accomplishments, and it's okay to admit and understand your weaknesses and your disability. It's just that those things don't make you any better or worse than anyone else. People are equal in value. What really makes the difference isn't what you have; it's what you do with it. Maybe you want to create art, or raise a child, be a friend, discover a new idea. Do those things. Don't hold yourself back by thinking you're inferior, and don't ignore the contributions of others by categorizing them as inferior.

Beast post again.

If anyone who voted 'no' on the poll can convince me that Aspies are superior to NTs, I'll send them $100.

I have a tendency of thinking like that too. In my case it does me really harm, it makes me unmotivated and depressed and makes me think it is not worthy living because humanity sucks. I can't handle those thoughts. How do you do it?

of course we are not superior, as they are also not superior to us, that kind of attitude where people think they are superior causes issues, like Nazi kind of mentality.

In my experience most NTs have always been more intelligent than me. What I was bad at I fell way underaverage, and what I was good at I was never better than everyone else at it, I was just average. So I don't consider myself a genius or an intelligent person.

I'm not ashamed of not being as clever as an Aspie is ''supposed'' to be. I'm only ashamed of lacking in some social skills. Saying I'm intelligent does not compliment me.
