I like video games (except for FPS and RTS) and I'm solidly mediocre at them. I should be much much better for all the time I've spent playing them, but my hand/eye coordination sucks. I even worked in the video game industry for 5-6 years. I'd play games for 6 hours each day, then come home and play other games and I never got any better.

The only video games I was any good at were the old ones such as pinball, PacMan, and Space Invaders. I played a certain pinball game until I achieved a record score.

I do not like them and I'm not good at them. I'm sure not being good at them is dyspraxia related.

The only games you'll see me playing are Role Playing Games, and shooters.

I'm not very good at video games, my hand eye co-ordination is terrible and my focus is weak.

I love ridiculously simple games like Dr Mario and simple platform games. Also minesweeper and freecell-the free ones basically. Anything 3D or with a story seems too much like hard work for me. The only exception is Age of Empires, which I love. I don't like playing to win though, just building up my own village on an easy level.

Right now I am play Heroes of Might and Magic III and I hate to lose. So every time I see my chances are bad I abandon that game and start a new one :P That way I have never seen what happens if I fail lol.
I am not exactly a good video gamer, but I don't play for achievement, but enjoy the atmosphere and spend more time on things NT gamers would simply pass by. I appreciate all the details of a game, instead of just aiming for scores. If I really like a game, I soon know all the tricks, bugs and hidden secrets.

I'm bad on FPS and sport games.

I love RPG's, racing, fighting, puzzle, tactical, and some platform games. I like 3D games, but I continue playing a lot of 2D games, like MegaMan (classic and X), Dr. Mario, Tetris and Pipe Dream.

So, may I ask you why the heck you call yourself RedMage, which is a clear RPG reference?

I like RPGs, but I find them hard. Plus, Red Mage is my favourite FF job/class.

I'm quite good at video games. I think I'm most skilled at C&C Generals Zero Hour at the moment, but Halo comes up close.

Im a huge fan of strategy games. From the moment I saw Total Annahilation, Warcraft 2, and Age of Empires I've become addicted. I now play DOTA on Warcraft III and various games on the WII.

Online games are great too I love human compitition because it is a different game every time and you REALLY have to think on the spot as opposed to planning ahead (which by the way I suck at, but its the learning thats fun)

I've seen a lot of aspies here that enjoy playing video games. I'm quite the opposite: I don't like them at all. My video games skills are abysmal, so playing one is nothing but a source of frustration. Every time I play, I can't get anywhere past a certain level, no matter how hard I try. When I was younger, I used to ask my NT friends to pass levels for me. Now I completely abandoned playing video games, don't own anything that has to do with them, and roll my eyes at commercials advertising new game systems. Whenever I actually play a video game, it's only on my computer, with all possible cheat codes enabled.

Is anyone else here bad at video games? Do you play them anyway, or do go about it another way? Post your responses.

I'm generally bad at video games. SO WHAT! BTW Being good is an indicator of NOTHING! Some parents are PROUD of their kids ability with games and say they are good with computers. Some are, but most are NOT!! !! !! The two have NO correlation. RELAX!

I figured that if you keep playing games, then you'll get better at it. However, I understand that you must have the discipline or time.

My no 1 favorite game of all time is the first person shooter, ut2004.

I started off absolutely s**t, but it's a mostly online game so I've managed to stay interested and I'm good enough now that I can play the computer on godlike difficulty without the computer even coming close to touching me.

The way I got good was to basically take it all one step at a time. I taught myself how to use each and every weapon individually, I taught myself how to use each vehicle, I bound all my keys to handy buttons and then bound them again and again till I finally got to the point where I was 100% comfortable. I basically worked really hard at it, it took ages before it all started to pay off. Now I can play online against nts and they accuse me of cheating on a very regular basis. It's very gratifying for someone like me ( a weird mix of slow but smart) to get to the point where my reactions are good enough to walk all over nts.
