The only time I wear socks is when I have shoes on. I almost always go barefooted when I am in the house. Walking around in socks just make them dirty and wears then out quickly. Plus I can't toe walk on the kitchen or bathroom flours as that would cause me to slip.

I'm the opposite of most here - I wear socks all the time. Socks have a predictable feel, whereas everything else on the floor, etc. is unpredictable. I hate stepping on random things with my feet and I have severe aversions to certain textures, which is a further reason for me to wear socks. They protect my feet from these awful things that might be lying around on the floor or elsewhere. So I even sleep in my socks. I wear mostly 100% cotton socks and they're something I'm used to now that I never really want to take them off. I do take them off in the shower or in other water situations, though, obviously.

I selected "other" because I absolutely freakin' LOVE socks! Only white socks. A clean fresh pair of socks is one of my greatest pleasures.

I answered for my daughter, and I picked the second one.

She wears socks, but putting them on takes her forever. She puts them on, messes around with them, takes them off, puts them on again, pulls them up, moves them around, pushes them down, pulls them up further, adjusts the toes, and then has to put her shoes on really, really fast so that her socks do not move from their perfect position.

I can wear socks, but not at night. No matter how cold my feet are, I feel almost panicked if I have my socks on while in bed.

Socks are okay if all of these criteria are met:

  • I am wearing shoes.
  • The seam is very very small or non-existent.
  • They are not too tight.
  • They are not too loose.
  • The socks are not sliding around between my foot and the insole of the shoes.
  • They are not wet.
  • They are not a terrible material.
  • There are not threads bunched up inside or outside the sock.
  • Nothing else is stuck to the inside or the outside of the sock.

I voted "other" because I have no real problem with socks, but I am particular about them. They need to come to my ankles or a bit above them, but they can't go *too* high up my ankles, either. Socks with loose cuffs are annoying, as are ones that are slightly twisted around. Oh--and no holes that my toes can stick through, please. I dislike wearing shoes without socks because it makes my feet feel kind of clammy.

I'm okay with socks - mostly I like the "ankle socks" as opposed to tube socks. I also like fuzzy socks and socks that have cool designs on them. :D Tube socks used to bother me when I was little because sometimes the inseam bothered my toes or they felt "lumpy."

I like socks. The only problem is that they don't have labels (right/left) and I take some time "testing".

Pretty much this. I also have to have the seam on top of my toes and never on the ends/tips, and I prefer low cut socks with a tab for the heels to prevent blisters. The fabric also has to be the right thickness. I prefer a thinner cooler fabric as long as it is thick enough to prevent my foot from sliding in the shoe. I rarely wear socks unless I have to, but I do occasionally like to put on a pair of warm soft socks in the winter.

Ahh, I forgot about height.

The socks can't be too tall or too short. They have to be to a certain point. If they're higher I hate it, and if they're lower I hate it.

yeah this point - it is probably why I have OCD and clean my house so much, I freak out stepping on anything loose or messy but I do like the feel of a clean floor on my bare feet.

I'd rather be exposed to socks than to violence.

I prefer to wear socks, so I don't have to look at my thick, discoloured toenails. I'm going to buy body butter and tea tree oil for my feet and toenails and see if that works to make my feet look more appealing.

I like socks, as long as they fit well but I dislike wearing socks or shoes when it is really hot. However I have really flat feet and dodgy ankles so I can't really go around barefoot anymore as I end up in pain.

Omg I hate socks.
They itch & get stuff between my toes & fall down & itch & itch & f*****g itch!

I'm the 1%.
I wear my shoes without them, it's much more comfortable.

I only ever wear socks with full boots: skiing, rollerblading, and hiking.
Only because of cold & blisters though, and I take them off the second I can.
I also don't do those activities much more than once or twice every few years these days.
