most carbonated drinks are way too sweet for me period, and when they get flat they are even sweeter. I just stopped drinking them, rarely I will have Root Beer or Ginger Ale or Cider (alcoholic).

Carbonated drinks are actually designed to be a sensory experience - they like much packaged "junk" food are. In the case of soda I saw it actually called "packaged pain"

My aspie ex had a cola habit that I was sharing for until we broke up. Then I quit. I like cola, but it gives me reflux. Also, carbonated beverages are terrible for the stomach - in order to deal with the acidity, calcium is withdrawn from the bones and dumped into the stomach, a biological antacid response. This can lead to osteoporosis. Also distends the alimentary canal. If you have diet drinks, aspartame is a known neurotoxin and probably not good for autistic people.

I like carbonated drinks. In fact I am somewhat addicted to coke. No, the caffeine doesn't keep me awake at night. I think Lucozade does more. Well, I don't know, last week I drank a whole big bottle of Lucozade in one afternoon and I slept well that night.

Despite loving coke so much, I do dislike burping, especially when it comes up really quickly and comes out really loud, it just feels weird. Once I drank a whole bottle of coke all in one go because of chronic thirst, then afterwards done three enormous burps that were out of my control. I wouldn't do that again, I just stick to juice if I'm that thirsty (I sometimes burp after juice but it's not so big). Good job I wasn't out in public. :)

I like carbonation but a lot of people say i drink it funny. I find drinking it intense so I take like these kind of small sips because it feels intense so after every sip its like I cant breathe so I sort of make a gasp. Its so hard to describe. But it is a little wierd.

Carbonated drinks feel so good on the back of the throat when you have a cold. They also make me feel better if I feel sick. I always keep ginger beer in the cupboard for these exact purposes. The ginger also helps with the sickness.

Yes, I know this, this is what I do, if I notice that the carbonation isn't gone yet (some drinks are really stubborn).
For me (additionally to the uncomfortable tickling sensation) it can make it worse when the drink is ice-cold - but the drink "behind" that carbonation is very often tasty... A silly dilemma, I admit it. Might as well just ignore those drinks, but their taste...! :x

I noticed that drinking with a long straw makes it much better though and makes it much more comfortable for me.

I feel so weird right now.

Sodas are probably my main dietary vice; I mostly drink Pepsi, Barq's root beer, and Sprite or 7-Up.

I have never liked fizzy/carbonated drinks. I've tried to drink them on multiple occasions, but I do not like the sensation.

I hate soda, but carbonated drinks. I like sparkling water, but I can't stand anything drowned in sugar, especially Skittles.

I never cared for Skittles either - my younger half-sisters used to love them though. Yuck. :eew:

I was gonna write that too. Generally I hate carbonated drinks. I only drink them when I have a sore throat because the bubbles are soothing. I only ever buy carbonated drinks if I am having people over. I have a bottle of coke in the kitchen that's been there since August because I don't drink it myself. If I do have anything carbonated it has to be lemonade.

Re. skittles. I hate them. I hate sweets. Don't understand why they are so popular. Yuck!

Wow I thought I was the only one. I don't like carbonated drinks because they hurt my mouth and make my eyes water. I am the only one I know of who has this issue and when I asked other people if soda hurt their mouth they said no....odd.

I'm not really a fan of carbonated drinks either, I like the taste but not the fizz, so (as people have said) prefer them 'flat'.
