Sounds to me like most of those people are just self-diagnosed attention seekers who have no idea what it's actually like to be autistic. Not that it can really be "explained" to a neurotypical though, you just have to have it to know.

I'm not trying to say anything bad about self-diagnosed people who do actually have symptoms of ASD (like sensory issues, literal thought patterns, lack of ToM, delayed language development, stimming, special interests, etc.), but I just know that there are a lot of people out there who are convinced that it's "cool" to have autism and other neurological or mental conditions, and convince themselves that they do indeed have them, even though they really don't.

I agree, absolutely, I have come across wannabe Aspies myself also. Often, they have no clue!

I never use Twitter I almost never use face book either too much bla bla bla bla NT socializing stuff and too easy to be trolled on those public areas. Not to mention stalkers and such as well.

This makes no sense to me. If someone were an attention seeker why pick autism? There are so many negative stereotypes associated with autism. Isn't there something better to get someone their desired attention? I'm not doubting that these people exist, but it just seems really bizarre.

Thank goodness I don't have an account that I check daily on Twitter. WrongPlanet is enough for me. :D :cat:

I don't think it's nearly as common as people say.

Guaranteed, these self obsessed super-autistics are not even diagnosed.

Could even be an elaborate propaganda machine for Autism Awareness Month as all I know.

Why do people waste their time with twitter, facebook, TV. radio, etc., when they can enjoy peace and quiet, and maybe do something with their lives?

They say that there's no such thing as bad publicity... ;) Positive or negative, some people just love attention. Why do you think serial killers exist? Why do you think Miley Cyrus and Justin Bieber act out?

A lot of people, mainly NTs, seem to thrive on chaos and excitement. I can understand it to an extent, but I'm not the type of person who likes excitement all the time. On the contrary, my job is exciting enough, so whenever I have time off, I spend it doing quiet activities like posting on here and playing computer games.

#aspie, #aspieroutine #aspieinseurity #aspieinsomnia etc .

I looked at twitter in an attempt to read the Aspie wannabie tweets . I saw a lot of tweets for #aspie , 1 for #aspieroutine (a mother talking about her childs homework) and none for the others. Could you please direct me to the wannabee tweets or copy and paste them here.

Okay, so the first one: How are they super autistics? Using twitter to disseminate links to their writing is pretty much like a large number of other people who use twitter.

The second one: Autism Speaks is going to have false flag autistics posting about how cool it is to be autistic as propaganda to drive their "autism is a scourge upon the face of humanity" message?
