It happens in all different directions. I just wish you could get a reliable supplier. So you don't lose $400 again.

I solved this by making myself "too dumb to fool" basically. So I make a rule I will give anyone the benefit of the doubt BUT no money or valuable will leave my possession. This has served me very well, and I have been shocked at the people most would just write off off the bat who turn out to be decent.

So like you'll listen to a guy who is probably a scammer, but no matter WHAT he says no money will be given. The real scam artists soon leave for better prey, and you find a few rare people who were not what they initially seemed.

That's a good approach, I find.

When a bureaucrat or employer tells me how to do something, I generally follow their instructions even after it dawns on me that their instructions won't accomplish the task. At the time I figure I must be missing some vital piece of information that would make their plan work, but it always turns out to be either my being too literal, or incompetence on their part.

In terms of practical jokes or scams, I tend not to fall for them since i distrust everyone to begin with.

Not very, I'm pretty suspicious of anyone I come in contact with. I'll give change to beggers more times than not tho if they ask me(usually not their first choice) just to get out of the situation but it makes me feel better about myself too. Have some of these people abused my kindness? Probably but I guess it's out of sight out of mind.

Indeed....as long as the beggar didn't buy his drugs while you were watching.

I do give to beggars at times--but only quarters (US 25 cent piece). Sometimes, they are appreciative; other times, they look at me like I'm some kind of cheapskate. One even threw the quarter back at me!

Although I strongly suspect I'm an Aspie, I've never considered myself to be very gullible. I tend to be cynical about things, and typically assume the worst of people. So I naturally don't believe what people say very easily. But this may be a comping mechanism from having been taken advantage of and bullied as a kid. I mean, it wasn't horrible bullying, nothing traumatizing. Just the type of typical thing you used to see on TV BEFORE this whole "stop bullying movement" started. So I don't know. I DO for some odd reason ALWAYS believe my husband when I as him if he's seen one of my misplaced items and he points over there, and there's nothing there! It's only slightly irritating, but mostly funny. For some reason, I always believe him lol. I mean, how naive/gullible do you have to be to be considered Autistic?
