I still walk on my toes, and I'm 39. I just caught myself doing it this morning - I was waiting for the coffee to boil and pacing back and forward across the kitchen on my toes. It was totally unconscious, and when I noticed what I was doing I was a bit shocked!

I toe-walk when I'm sock- or bare-foot, and tend to plant my foot toe-ball-heel when I'm wearing shoes (except for high-heels, that's heel-toe).

It's pretty common, but I don't see people who toe walk, other than me.

Most of the other autistic guys and girls I know flap their hands a lot. I also rock on my heels.

I noticed that "toe walking" with me today after reading this thread.
It feels natural for me, so I never really paid attention to it before. I doubt I'm doing this when wearing shoes though, it would be useless and hard to begin with I think.

Toe walking is also nicely quiet.
Well, I'm known for scaring others in the house by suddenly "just being there" - I got used to say from afar "don't be scared, I'm coming" to my mother since she can freak out (in a "I got scared"-way, not an angry one) if I don't do so and suddenly cause noise by grabbing a bag of chips or stuff like that.

I also like that I'm walking silently, I don't like noisy walking. When "running" through the house, I'm also doing that on my toes, same for walking on stairs.

I don't flap hands though, don't think I ever did that.
