no one is stupid, those of us with intelectual disability arent stupid and there are a number of older people with ID live who live independantly, it all depends on a persons individual difficulties and traits from their condition,IQ means fck all both ways.

'stupid' is an outdated concept that people who think theyre mentaly superior than someone else use as theyre extremely ignorant and like to knock peoples self esteem, start logging anything that support staff say and report it to social services, theyll probably forward it to CQC who are very good with adult care abuse.

if are going to be recieving floating support theres every chance will become fully independant in the future as it shows are progressing.
HFAs dont have lack of functioning/independance rather its the associated traits and their comorbid conditions conflicting with and masking their every day functioning that causes the issues.

No; from what I've read of your posts, not at all. Your carer, however, is extremely ignorant.

Thank you again everyone, good replies.

I'm going to call my care coordinator tomorrow and ask how to make a complaint.

This carer has also broke Article 8 of the Human Rights Act several times over: right to private life without external interference. And I argue that he has broken the Disability Discrimination Act too.

He also has broken Fire Safety Regulations by insisting that a TV that nearly caught fire be turned on and left plugged in with the power on for the whole evening. Naturally, I unplugged the TV when he left and hid the Scart lead.

He's retiring soon (YAY!) but I'm still going to complain.

I've quoted Housing Regulations verbatim to him before many times but he just talks over me.

I will not let him mess me about anymore.

Thank you everyone for helping.

SteelMaiden, I have read many of your posts and I can tell you right here, right now, you are not even remotely stupid ....

You seem very intelligent. I hope you get rid of this carer soon.

I concur. You shouldn't have to put up with abusive treatment. Let us know what happens once you report them.

Sorry for the late response.

I am in a new place of my own now and it's isolated here, it's much better.

Thanks for helping me :)

The carer here said I'm stupid and will never be independent.
does it really matter? everyone alive now will not be alive eventually. their brains all turn into dirt eventually.
if you live as long as they do, then the sum of what you saw in your life will equal the sum of what they saw in theirs. time belongs to nobody but is everybody's to share.

Thanks.

The National Autistic Society (my new floating support) are much better than so-called mental health carers I've had in the past.

My care coordinator said my mental health problems are not that bad now, but now that my Asperger's is a "major problem", hence autism support not mental health carers any more.

Problem is today I'm going on an enforced holiday. I hate holidays. I've been having diarrhoea and vomiting today due to extreme nerves. My family in Cyprus want me to see them, but I find holidays extremely stressful.

I'm not sure how to cope.

NB: I will still data in Cyprus as it's not too expensive to use that on my phone, so I'll be on WP sometimes while on holiday.
