So do NT's actually know these "signals" mean all that stuff intuitively? That's amazing.

That's a great question. Simply looking at the pictures and reading the descriptions drained me. I get so tired constantly having to think, "what does that look mean."

I wonder how quickly a normal NT can "read" body language. That is, do they look at the picture and make an instantaneous judgment.

Likewise, I wonder if people intentionally "encode" their body language, to communicate something (that they may not necessarily be thinking/feeling).

As a note, sometimes I wonder if this is all simply pseudoscience.

I think you're on to something, Rocket. It's almost like Phrenology.

Welcome to WP Perpetual Padawan. I LOVE your screen name and avatar.

I got exhausted just looking at the pictures too and that was just the first 8 or so. I had to close the page because I really could not look at any more...I can tell if they are super obvious like if someone is laughing or smiling or if someone is frowning or crying but all those nuances that the pictures showed, there is no way in a million years that I could have known those. And it's tiring just to look at them on the screen. This was really good for me to see and find out about myself.

Thank you. I am obsessed with Lego Star Wars; I just got the new Sandcrawler last weekend, and it's the most amazing thing in the world! I agree with you; I was compelled to close the page after only looking at half of it. Talk about an overwhelming list of things to look for. I get the poles; very happy equals a smile, and sad people mostly cry. It's the in-between stuff that I get lost on. Of course, I find that I spend much of my time not actually even looking at the person I'm talking to so that probably doesn't help with the interpretation of body language.

It can happen in less than 21 ms, which is pretty darn fast. There is no intentional encoding going on as that would involve a thought process which is so slow that it will always seem fake in comparison. But if you're able to read and use it at all, then of course you can train yourself to favor a certain type of body language, e.g. by deep acting.

Both faces look the same...
How can someone be bored and interested and make the exact same face.
