Nope. Where we live, school may go up to 21, but it's on a case-by-case basis. We've spoken about this with the school and they do not think he'd get approved because he doesn't do academics. He doesn't read or write, do math, none of it, so it's a bit like daycare. If he "didn't learn anything" in 13 years, what's the point of doing another 3? (that's their thinking). I'm not as worried about my younger son because he's likely to be approved and go until 21.

Wow, it seems like a very unhelpful school. Even if he has trouble with speech, he might also learn sign language and/or typing with a laptop. He might learn his surrounding neighborhood. He might develop better skills for telling the time or with money.

For example, at an event with a lot of vendors, in addition to my clumsy wallet in my left pocket, I stumbled upon keeping a folded stack of twenty-five $1 bills in my right pocket. So, for example, if I was buying lunch for 6 + change, it was so much easier just to peel off seven ones, than trying to fumble with a five, etc, etc. And if I'm slightly off, it's no big deal either. It was kind of a more comfortable arrangement in that regard.

Maybe it's better to chose laterally in three years and not count on the school. If you do decide to take on the school, please have supporters and allies with you.
