People don't know how to do dishes? 8O [. . .]

I don't think it's so much an issue of not knowing HOW, intellectually, dishes are cleaned. I think it's more an issue of execution of that knowledge.

For example, my problem with learning to do dishes wasn't that I didn't know and understand that the entire dish had to be cleaned and all the soap rinsed off; my problem was just in being aware of how clean the dish in my hand at that moment was. This is why it became an OCD issue with me: Because being overly methodical and spending extra time on every dish corrected for my lack of awareness of how clean that dish was; I then was unaware of how much water I was using, though, so no real progress there, IMO...

LOL!! I have a mental visual of bubbles everywhere and you guys slipping and sliding all over the kitchen and bubbles flying all over the room! I am most likely overdoing it with the bubbles but I had a long hard day today and that visual is giving such a great laugh that it is really brightening up my whole day. Now I can sleep happy and laughing. :D

And what's really funny is that I actually have a very similar story about the first time I ever used a front loading washing machine. I put in the same amount of detergent that I used in a top loader, and this was not the one ounce or less per use organic laundry soap I use now, it was the one cup per use general stuff you get for cheap at the grocery store. So yeah, we spent the entire rest of the day soaking up bubbles from the ENTIRE basement floor with towels! Kind of like that Peter Brady does Laundry episode. Actually exactly like that Brady Bunch episode! :D

I'm awesome at washing dishes by hand, but it takes me an extremely long time to do it due to all the precision I put in. I don't like it when people wash the dishes and do a half-hearted job. That said, I don't particularly enjoy it, because it's a long, tedious task, but I'd certainly take it over most other household chores.

If I have a dishwasher available, sometimes I'll try to fit items into it that most people would simply wash by hand, mainly large items like pots and cookie sheets and serving bowls, simply because those are the biggest pain in the ass to wash, and I'd rather wash the smaller items whose space they would occupy.

Washing dishes is kind of like writing essays for me, I'm good at it, but I don't particularly care for it.

I wish my sink was bigger and deeper for those large items.

I started doing dishes this summer because my mother gives me money when I do the dishes. I've never heard her complain about how I do dishes. It's actually another way for me to do something instead of my homework. Almost everything is better than doing homework.

I'm a very effective dishwasher. I use a number of strategies. I have an issue in that I have to rustle my fingers together several times before I wash them or touch anything. Its partly a compulsive obsessive thing and partly a stim. I do it when doing anything requiring manual dexterity. I feel I have to do it even though I get a bit impatient with myself.
