Staying the night at other people's houses.

I was just remembering, when I was growing up, there were lots of times when I was staying over with relatives, I'd have to be taken home early because I didn't like being there. I don't remember ever sleeping over at a friend's house, maybe once in second grade? It was such a shock when I went to college and lived in a dorm.

I absolutely loathe it as well. In fact, I am spending the thanksgiving break with my brother and his family (got married 2 years ago) in Portland, Oregon, and I have been staying in the guest room for the last 5 hours since I landed in PDX. His dogs have growled at me, and attempted to bite me, and the neighbors there smoke medical marijuana. I was about to cancel my ticket and stay home because of the fight-or-flight response, but didn't because it cost $500 on Alaska Airlines. The fear is not having a relationship with his extended family and not being in control of my surroundings and being bored. I hope it gets better.

It was even worse when I was going on a 3 week trip to Costa Rica because I am not that fluent in
