I don't know if other are in the same situation, but I can only listen to music in certain conditions.
For me to listen to music I need to plug comfortable headphones into my Ipod, lay down in bed or in the couch, isolate all exterior sound and listen to it with my eyes close and enjoy it. But having music when watching a movie is not a problem either.
But doing like what most people do I simply can't, I get overwhelmed and go crazy to the point where I need to turn it off.
I can't listen to music with earphones on in the train, bus or on a plan like a lot of people do.
I can't listen to music in my car (talking radio yes)
I can't listen to music on my stereo at home
I can't listen to music when I'm on my computer, either simply browsing the internet, or working, or writing, I just can't (but ok when editing and putting a music track over an edit).
So, am I the only one, or other have the same problem? Can it be due to an overload of to much information entering my brain? Like in a bus where I'm already getting a lots of information and sounds.
Don't get me wrong, I like music... But I can only listen to it in a certain manner.

my mood, emotions and even body rythms (breathing, heartbeat, chewing) change depending on the music.

i indeed love music as a whole, but due to its intense effects, a lot of modern music is dangerous to my mental health (dubstep makes me want to snap into a destructive rage, for example), which makes listening to radio or going out into town a bad idea generally.

Even though I voted "love music" in the poll, I have noticed that music can have an intense effect on my mood. It isn't always the case, because I'll often just listen to music as background noise, but if I'm not doing much of anything else, and I'm in the right mood, I can really get into my music.

Also, if a song I really hate comes on ("Girls Just Wanna Have Fun" by Cyndi Lauper is a notable example), my first thought is to find the source of the offending racket, and make it stop. If I can't make it stop, because it's the radio in a restaurant or something, then I just brace myself until it ends.

Do you compose, too, FelineLover?

Perhaps you're like the composers' T.S. Eliot, who was a cat-lover.

Love music. Ps: anyone else been known to listen to the same song about 50 times in a row?
