I'd think people should know in that context it just means, someone who's been here a long time...not necessarily that they represent everyone here. Either way not sure hostility was intended would have to see what the OP says..their intent was.
i suppose i was hasty in my interpretation of her post. i am not a good judge of intent.
i can see that saying "Be yourself" can mean "don't hold back or be shy" with the implication that "it does not matter how you are, you will be accepted", but the use of the word "lie" was what tripped my interpretation toward the negative.
a lie is a deliberately presented falsehood, and it is an act of deception, and i thought she was saying akin to "don't misrepresent yourself as autistic if you are not". i was probably wrong and am interested to hear what she further has to say.
I never thought of it being used in a negative way.
