Yes I've hit myself I still do but I try to avoid my head and I punch my legs, arms I will bite my hands or bite my arm. I used to self injure with sharp objects during meltdowns but I have move beyond that now. I will yell and curse impulsively and I will sometimes shake or twist abruptly.

Not fun but it has been happening less for me.

I only do these things when I am really upset. I bite myself frequently.

Sometimes I talk rudely into my pillow when alone to 'release' some of my 'meltdown energy' and minimize my public meltdown odds

I hit and pinch myself a lot, though I do not scream. Mostly I do this when I'm upset or just out of habit (the pinching, I have no idea why)

Before I got on ADHD meds I would hit myself a lot, the pain dissolves any emotions I also have the extreme urge to slam my head when overwhelmed, but I think I've given myself concussions in the past and try my darndest not to do it again.

Makes me curious of how many Aspies self harm to regulate emotions...

Scream? No.

Hit myself? Frequently...especially when frustrated.

wow, the hitting myself was REALLY bad when I was younger. And I used to pull chunks of my hair out when I was frustrated or angry. As an adult, it's been more punching walls, or slapping my face really hard - but thankfully I haven't done this in awhile!

This thread made me wonder if I'm not normal for an aspie. :) I just don't get emotional like that. Last time I was angry was 11 years ago. I do get sad and sometimes cry a bit, but nothing big and furious. Maybe if I'm big and strong and have robust health I'll be likely to feel that? It just feels like too much work to get that angry or frustrated.

I slam my head against the wall. i almost never do it, and when i do not really hard. used to bit my lips for years, till they swelled twice their size, but it was more of a sensory thing, and partly out of irritation.

self harm is common in autism. we have a very low frustration tolerance, and some aspies dont feel pain. i'm oversensitive to most pains, but not being hit on the head. that's the one thing i barely feel, and didnt feel any pain when biting my lips.
