Not like that. He could say, "I am sorry, but in real life, the chemistry is just not there" and be nice about leaving. Going all cold and stony after being all romantic the night before is not "no chemistry" --it's the behavior of a hunter or user.

In the early 1990s, I knew (over the Internet) a girl in Canada who was about 18 who became engaged to a guy in New York City who she only know by the Internet and telephone. She was very excited about going to New York City to meet him in person for the first time.

I don't know what happened at that meeting, but whatever it was really upset her and they broke off the engagement. As far as I remember, she refused to ever talk to him again.
