Thank you for your answers guzzle and CWA.

I always wondered about this question (for selfish reasons). My family saw ASD as something to keep quiet and not let anyone know about. Someone I trust suggested that perhaps they didn't want a label to 'hold me back'. I feel like it would have been better for me to know about it, not necessarily other people.
I appreciate your answers. It gives me something to think about.

My parents would want my autism impairments removed as much as me. I don't think having my autism removed would make me any less unique or whatever.
