Just look at your breaker box in your apartment. If all the breakers are on, then it may be that it's cut off at the main breaker box. You don't need to mess with that breaker box. It actually should be locked anyway, to keep neighbors from turning off each other's lights - also you don't need to be messing around with breakers cause you really can mess up something if you don't know what you are doing.

If you left a message, then whoever is supposed to answer it should call you back tonight or by in the morning. They may be out or already in bed or something. BTW, if it was flooding there, you would need to turn your water off. There should be something in the bathroom and the kitchen to do that. If there isn't, or if it doesn't work then you need to make sure you ask the maintenance guy where the main cutoff is for your apartment so you can cut it off if there is an emergency.

If you have left a message for maintenance then just leave it at that and wait and try them back tomorrow. There isn't anybody who lives in the building who does maintenance or the landlord? You could ask a neighbor if they know anything about it. That's a good way to meet a neighbor. You could go ahead and do that before it gets too late.

I'm sorry you're going through this, buddy. This will get sorted out by Monday.

Can't you call your grandparents and calmly tell them your situation? They would probably take you in until Monday. Show them the lease to prove that you're not trying to get slick with them.

The main breaker is locked. I left another message. Still straight to voicemail. The thing is I don't even have enough gas money to drive all the way back to my grandparents. So I'm stuck here in the cold.

I guess I could ask them to get me. Might as well try I guess.

If they won't come and get you, get them to send you $20 through Walmart. It will cost them ten bucks extra to send it but it'll save them the trip and you can use the money they send for gas to get back there.

He says he'll come get me and give me some gas money so I won't need them to drive me back as well. But still, this pisses me off.

And the neighbors kind of scare me. I don't know, maybe I'm being a baby. But I don't think they would know what to do anyway. In my lease under maintenance, it says to call the office number for these issues. The manager personally gave me another number to call for emergencies, which is a different number. I just go straight to a voicemail greeting saying the office is closed, but if it's an emergency to leave my unit number, name, phone and description of the problem, which I did twice now.

I'm glad they came to get you.

Talk to the management Monday. Does your complex have a contract with the power company....or do you have to create your own account? Ask them that question.

I have my own account, account number etc. which I believe is completely separate. All the other utilities are either not used (gas) or part of the agreement.

you could probably break the lease because of this

especially since you live up in Idaho where you need heat

no excuse for any reputable apartment not to have any emergency maintenance on-call

Call the power company first thing Monday morning.

And go to the management office.

Well the one right next to me was cussing and yelling at someone for hours. And in general it's just not a very nice area. Stray animals always running around, dirt roads, people yelling at each other. It's just kinda trashy. Not that I was expecting much better considering the price.

And not to sound racist, but most of the people living here are Mexican. For some reason they scare me. I'm sure they're not all bad, but I can't help but think some of them would want to jump a little white kid like me. I used to live in Vegas so I probably saw some of the worst of them. Admittedly the ones here are probably decent people with lower incomes like me, but still. I'd rather just keep to myself.

Ah ok, you live in the hood it sounds like. I grew up in a similar area, except it was black not hispanic. You're right though, most people are nice and are normal. Different cultures come across different ways. I've seen lots of public yelling and such in low income areas. It's seen as acceptable there, so it's ok. Nobody means anything bad by it.

One good thing about living in the hood though, you won't have to go far to get green ;-) (I don't smoke it but most folks I know do, especially ones your age)

I've never had it before. I still don't understand how people get it. If it's illegal then how do you even ask anyone? And where do those people get it from? I know around here I've heard people will grow them on farmland secretly next to other crops. Free fertilizer I guess.

Really...do yourself a favor. If you haven't already tried pot, don't.

It's a waste of bucks, and you're forced into sleazy, potentially hazardous situations when you try to obtain pot.

Think about your career as a speech pathologist.

How long is your lease?
