I would be very careful with that. It turned into a real problem for me for awhile. Sure a couple of shots of whisky might loosen one up and numb some of that anxiety. But alcohol is the sort of thing that that can build up very quickly and before you know it - you're drinking to really unhealthy proportions especially if you are the chronically nervous person like me. A couple shots, then a couple more than a couple more and before you know it it's out of control. And then you feel sick and jittery and can't sleep if you don't keep it up.

Remember hard liquor is very rough stuff to be pouring into your body in any serious quantities. It's like pouring bleach onto a sensitive epithelium.

I actually noticed alcohol was starting to make me rock back and forth slightly without realizing that's what was happening. I slightly attributed it to having asperger's being the cause because I realize they "stim" but I could see myself doing it in the mirror and stop myself, and I never do that otherwise. Weird.

But yeah, would definitely only recommend indulging in alcohol if you can keep drinking/drugs under control and only do it when you're in a really awkward or crowded place or something that's anxiety/panic inducing or stuff that you need to "socially lubricate" haha.

I'm sure someone with AS thinks that they're suddenly way-tougher while intoxicacated, just like almost every other person in the world.

Yes. I've found that in small/medium amouns it definitely helps reduce my anxiety in social situations/not worrying about thinking of something to say. However, in large amounts I've found myself becoming a bit too overconfident and coming across as a bit of a fool - pays to know your limits and your limitations, I guess
