I see lavender and taupe. I can understand seeing blue in it, or gold. But I can't understand why anyone would see either white or black.

It's happened pretty often, where other people see white, off-white, or beige, I see something like pink or yellow.

Possibly "sandy taupe" and "gold" are different descriptions of the same type of colour.
Rather than white I am seeing something with a bluish tint. But too blue to be called "lavender".
