We will not have world peace until:
* The war of Armageddon 8O
* The Gods woke up by the sound of some big horn
* The Devil will die, and all his evil projects would be out of commission
Did i miss something ? :D

It's like Police officers. They are biting the very hand that feed them. Police officers fight crime, but if there is no more crime. then who need Police officers.

Thus why our memetic environment is over-run by self-reinforcing processes.
It's an emergent intelligence that stems from the basic logic of natural selection.
It's why we're so screwed.

On a lighter note, we should use base 8, not base ten to count.

Base 8 is no better than base 10. Base 12 would be much better

In Base 8, 10 can be divided by 2 and 4.
In Base 10, 10 can be divided by 2 and 5.
In Base 12, 10 can be divided by 2, 3, 4, and 6. The 8 and 9 times tables also become very simple.

That's just what I was going to say!

I don't think world peace will ever happen until the entire human race goes extinct. We're a violent, destructive species by our very nature.

The police force were invented a little over 300 years ago - since it's invention crime has only risen, by 1000's of % - maybe there's something to think about in that!

I believe that world peace is possible... If pigs could fly, and the economy as we know it disappeared.
Greed and the lust for power aren't going to diminish, it would take a catastrophe to move humanity towards peaceful ways, and even if that did happen, would the nurtured nature ever disappear? I don't think so.

We will not have world peace, until heavy handed parents and teachers stop abusing children. If that stopped, than wars would cease to exist in the future.

I doubt that. Child abuse is not the cause of psychopathy which is neurological dysfunction. As long as people carry the psychopath gene, there will be wars, and most of the population carries the gene.

But then we figured out how to light the poo before flinging it!

We may be accelerating our own extinction and preparing the world for a human-free peace, but we did put on a hell of pyro show while we were here.

There is one thing I think that is stopping world peace from ever happening, and that's "human nature". We all want to 1-up each other, and we surly can't have peace under those conditions. Think about it. The modern world as we know it has all but eliminated human(labor) slavery and we still can't make peace with each other. Even in spite of having machines doing most of the slave work for us.

I agree with most of what you are saying, but I don't think we've even come close to eliminating slavery.

base 8 is perfect as 10 divides by 2 exponentially, 10, 4, 2, 1, 0.4, 0.2, 0.1 etc
in base 12 10 only divides equally twice, then come fractions again, 10, 6, 3, 1.6, 0.9 (i can't work it out after that)

… until every major culture embraces the Non-Aggression Principle, the concept that the party who initiates the use of force is always in the wrong.

Humans have free will, so there will always be individual criminals and crimes of passion. But if every country, society, culture adopted the NAP as part of its core beliefs, it wouldn't matter what deity they worshipped or which economic system they advocated. They would rely on persuasion and example rather than violence.

That's why I was making a reference to "labor" slavery. which has been almost eliminated. but other forms of slavery, like sexual slavery, still run rampant.
