I do this often, usually as a coping strategy for anxiety/agoraphobia when going outside. I also wear them to cover up Strabismus(a lazy eye).

Never go anywhere without my shades! Main reason is light sensitivity, even on overcast rainy days i wear them and yes it also helps as a barrier to the rest of the world, i suppose no different than women that refuse to go outside without their makeup. Its a placebo effect that is common place.. Even NT's i know admit to wearing shades sometimes in social situations to feel more comfortable... I have gotten over what people think, if i feel more comfortable wearing them and reduces anxiety and sensitivity to light, im not going to go out my way to try to explain something to someone that doesn't experience what i do, it ends up in a futile discussion and normally ends with the other person finishing off the sentence, 'If i were you....', ' Why dont you.....' etc etc etc

Do what makes YOU feel comfortable! :)

I wear sunglasses not only indoors outdoors mornings and night times but to make myself feel more confident in myself but to make myself look dark and mysterious wearing all black and my leather jacket and because my eyes are sometimes sensitive to the light wich do unfortunately trigger my mingraines that I suffer with

When I lived in the city I wore mirrored sunnies quite often. As long as you keep your head pointed elsewhere you can stare at whoever you want without attracting interaction.
I also got to see all the double takes on the other side of the street to the sight of a 2 metre punk ganglebot. Very entertaining.
Since becoming a country recluse I have neglected my sunglasses and don't like wearing them, which has come back to bite me as I am developing cataracts from UV exposure.
