I wear the same things over and over again. I know people notice, and I don't care. No one has ever bothered me about it. I am usually in jeans and a knit shirt, but I do have other nicer clothes for church and sometimes when I am teaching. I still have a limited number of outfits, maybe 4-5. In my line of work, I can get away with this which makes me happy. I neither like to spend the money or the time shopping for clothes. I hate it.

Most of the weird things I do are in my head and wouldn't be noticed by anyone. I suppose someone could think that it is OCD-related, but really I don't *need* to do these things - I just find it fun to find patterns in everything. I like to divide the space mentally between telephone poles, count the number of white stripes in the road, find relations between numbers on license plates. When walking, I will walk according to the pattern on the floor or side walk. Once I figure out a good walking speed/stride length (which doesn't take long), no one would know I was doing anything odd.

I do fidget with my hands a bit (drumming my fingers, playing with stuff, chewing my nails), and my husband will tell me to stop. If I have a cup and I'm talking, I will repeatedly bang it on the table. I usually do not even realize I am doing this until my husband tells me to stop.

Yep, Olive Oil.

And I also do at least some of the things Nerdygirl wrote about.

Oh I also have another really weird trait that I remembered from the number plate thing. When I see a car model or brand that is rare (Alfa Romeo, Porsche, etc.) in my area or if my mum has driven it (Yaris, Passat), then I call it out!

I'll just be walking along and then I'll see a Toyota Yaris and I'll go "YARIS!" and keep walking :P, I even have some special ones, like shiny Chevrolet (because they are the shiniest cars) and placating Passat.

Weird xD

Oh, I forgot a couple of things that I do that are weird AND have been noticed...

I still sort my food before eating. For example, if I am eating potato chips, I will organize them according to whole and broken ones and then, if there's enough variety, I will sort the whole ones by size. If I happen to be eating french fries, I eat them two at a time by matched sizes or if it is a really long one, I will fold it.

I also say random things like a sing-songy "la-la". I get teased a little bit by this by some of my students... Not in a bad way, though. I think they find my quirks endearing.

Also, one thing I'm not sure is an Aspie thing, but I am VERY absent-minded, and part of the problem it causes me when I'm talking is that I will say the first half of one sentence and the second half of my next sentence, which causes me to make no sense. Sometimes, when I am teaching this causes me to give away the answer as I ask the question. I have been working *very* hard on this, as it is not helpful when teaching!! !

:P I do something kind of similar, when eating curly fries every other Friday, I will eat my, well. Actually I always do this but I deliberately do it with my Friday meal at my Dad's, I will eat the curly fries in the order of smallest to largest, because it really varies!

There is a method to the madness! I actually had someone observe my french-fry eating and realize that my way was better than theirs - because my way meant more ketchup could be scooped up by two fries. :D

(That's not really why I personally eat my fries that way because I'm not a big ketchup fan, but hey!)

:P For some reason I love acidic sweets but can't stand ketchup because of the acidity.
Also, have you watched "Cookie monster ponders the mysteries of the universe"? Because there is a great idea about ketchup, here it is:
"Surely if tomato is fruit, that make ketchup jam!"
Wonderful :D
I recommend you watch the video, just search the first thing in quotes.

I´ve been wearing a T-shirt and a hiking shirt every day for the last eight years. My second skin! Now the hikingshirts are worn and I´ll probably buy some new alike. Not what you would expect from a woman aged 53-61.
I twirl hair and my hands are in my face a lot of the time, touching the nose, mouth and eyebrows. Gross?
Often I think aloud, echoing my own last words - especially when worried.
I pace, when worried, minding certain mathematical proportions. Very calming.

I just recalled my other quirks:

If a room has a active heater you will find me hugging it or sitting on floor using it as my back support. I'm like a cat, I love warm things.

When other people wear t-shirts I wear sweaters. When other people wear sweaters I cover myself with a blanket or look for an active heater.

I wish I could remember what people have gotten on my case about. I do remember at times saying, "What's it to you if I do such-and-such a certain way?" I have more than once made it quite obvious to people that I am really not interfering with their personal lives by being the way I am.

Now, if I am doing something physically distracting, I understand being asked to stop at least for a while. But, really, who cares what I wear (unless a workplace or a school has a dress code I need to abide by?)

I know that too, but had to teach myself not to follow my urge. I just barged in with my observations or additions. Had too many negative responses, raised brows and more.
I´m just happy to know, that I´m not the only one with that urge.

I do that too, though it really depends on the subject matter. It has to be something I know about or have some interest in. I also have a really bad habit of correcting others' grammar or spelling that can be a bit much for some people. Sometimes I still have issues with being audience-appropriate in conversation and I use vocabulary that's over some people's heads. Age and time have decreased those lapses- that and knowing that I am generally the only hyperlexic in the conversation, so I need to choose my vocabulary accordingly.

I've learned over the years to enjoy myself with a variety of clothing. I'm very fussy about bodily hygiene, and I like my clothes super clean, so I do laundry a lot, but the general gist of my wardrobe is the same- lots of t-shirts with catty sayings, American Eagle jeans, zip up hoodies, and a huge variety of shoes (those are my weakness.) I don't dress like an old bitty. I like bright colors and bold patterns, and I dress the way I like to for the most part. The only weird part is that I absolutely hate tight or itchy clothing. So I have a lot of soft knit things that don't chafe or itch, but other than that, I have fun with it. When I was a little kid all the way through high school my family was poor and I had to wear my sisters' old worn out and ill-fitting clothes. I wasn't allowed to do my hair or makeup the way I wanted to either. So as soon as I had the means and the freedom, I started to dress and groom according to my own tastes.

It aggravates me that people think that just because I'm over 40 that I'm relegated to boring colors, little to no makeup, platinum blonde hair (yuk!) and all that old bittyness. I'm going to dye my hair black until I drop dead, thanks.

The last person who tried to get me to dress conventionally (boring...) and not wear makeup was my ex-husband, who I've not seen in over 20 years- which is no tragedy at all. There are many good reasons for that. :P
I don't respond well to control freaks, probably because I'm enough of one myself. :skull:

Hands down: Synaesthesia.

It is trippy sometimes.

Weird as far as like, out in public kind of stuff? I tend to mutter to myself just under my breath a lot. It probably looks fairly normal say in the grocery store when I'm trying to remember what I need to buy and I'm mumbling about that. But probably not so normal if I'm just walking down the sidewalk mumbling to myself. lol

A lot of my talking to myself is just my way of trying to remember stuff, and I can control it. But I also blurt out odd random thoughts very compulsively. I do it in a very soft voice so a person might not hear me unless they are standing right next to me. But sometimes I say really weird stuff and it just flies out of my mouth before I can stop myself from saying it.

What worries me the most is if someone is really getting on my nerves, the minute they walk away I will start muttering things like "b***h" or "idiot." I do my best to control it but sometimes I can't help it.

I can also get so lost in my own world that I'm not really aware of what is going on around me. Not while I'm just walking around, usually only if I'm really absorbed in doing something, like in my job if I'm rearranging a display. It's like I get tunnel vision.

Also have been told many times that a person tried to speak to me, but for whatever reason I didn't hear them.

Weird stuff I do at home alone is another story. I'm probably not even aware of half the stuff I do.
