Anyone use to jump off swings as a child/teenager?

I'm of the "one-percent." I never jumped out of a swing.

I would every once in a while but I was always scared because the pressure of landing on my feet with such intensity would always make my ankles hurt. Nowadays, I can't swing for very long because I get nauseous (which never used to happen as a child) but I guess that's a perk(?) of growing up.

The only swing I've ever jumped off of was a large rope swing over a lake and that was mostly for doing acrobatic high dives acts. And as long as you didn't belly-flop into the water. Any kind of jump you can dream of doing (or brave enough to do.) could be done safely on this swing. No matter what happened, you always landed in deep water.

None of my schools ever allowed it but I always did it at home and on public playgrounds.

I loved swinging when I was a kid. In fact, I still love swinging to this day. Several months back, my wife and I were walking our dog through a local park and I asked her if she minded if I went on the swings. I get a feeling of happiness whenever I am swinging.

Regarding jumping off swings, I remember doing it a little when I was younger. It definitely wasn’t my preferred way to get off the swings. And, most definitely, I wasn’t interested in seeing if I could jump the farthest (as that was simply a recipe for getting hurt).

Could anyone pose for a photo while they jumped, like while in mid-air?

I loved it because the adrenaline gave me the impression of time being slowed down.

Heck yes - loved that moment at the top of the arc where you're just an astronaut floating through space. 8)

It's a wonder I never broke any bones.

Yes I did, though it wasn't very dangerous because I never did it while I was swinging really high.

I also discovered that rubbing the (metal) slide with a waxed paper bag (loaves of bread would be supplied in such bags in my day) would make the ride a lot faster, so I would shoot off the end of the slide. Sadly, subsequent slide users would experience the same effect, but being unprepared, they didn't always land on their feet.
