Not going to college but also have no idea what job I'd want
I agree with CWA, you have to pay your dues…unless you invent the next big thing. That is why I was suggesting something you enjoy, I was able to turn one of my hobbies into an enjoyable and well paying career (automotive design sculptor), but it, as I mentioned, it took a degree in industrial design, and an apprenticeship working under experienced modelers at a large car company. It wasn't easy, and the job didn't just fall into my lap.
Fact is most jobs worth having require a degree of some kind of trade school. I know you don't WANT to, because it will be difficult for you, but you should consider going to trade school. I will say that post high school education is very different and could be easier to handle than high school. Some trades are in high demand and would lucrative as soon as you finished school.
I actually don't have any sensory issues, as I'm not a full blown aspie. I also already looked up popular trades that make good money and are in high demand and I wasn't interested in any of them, not even kidding.. None of them sounded appealing to me at all and neither did the amount of time you would have to spend in trade school for them. I'm sorry, but I seriously just do not want to go to any trade school or other school. It doesn't matter how lucrative a trade may be, if I'm not interested in it and tried to force myself to learn it, I wouldn't last longer than a week in any trade school and I would be miserable.
Don't laugh at me, but I've recently been looking into starting an ebay business. Yes, it will be hard and take a long time, but in CAN be done and I'd be much happier spending my time working on trying to become a successful ebay seller than in any school, since like I said pretty much none of the lucrative trades that exist interest me. I realized if I'm going to put my time into something, It would definitely be this! Being able to work from home has always been a dream of mine and I recently started thinking, forget everything else.... the time to try to try to make this work from home thing happen is now.
I'm not saying you have to go to college, but it really is nothing like elementary/high school, and if you're thinking of it that way you might miss out on something really fun. Professors treat you with a lot more respect, and you can take classes only in things that interest you. They also have a much more flexible schedule, especially if you're registered with the college's disability services and tell them you need a reduced course load. This past term, I had one class on Tuesday and one on Thursday, and that's it.
You don't need to know what you're majoring in to go to college - probably 90% of first-years in college have no clue what they want to major in. All majors require a bunch of elective credits, which can be filled by a class in any subject, so many people just take a selection of stuff that sounds interesting, and decide what to major in (or whether to continue in university at all) based on how they felt about those classes.
Also, most colleges allow someone to sign up as a non-program student and take only a very small number of classes. My Dad did that - he took a Japanese class with me. So you could take a single university class to see if you like it, and decide based on that.
Do what you love and find any company you want to work for, even if you start at the bottom. I didn't need a degree to get to where I was at and I did extremely well. Yes, most people who worked with me had MBAs at least, but I still got the job. Hard work, find something you are passionate about and don't waste your time or money if you don't think that you can make it in a college or school environment. It's NOT for everyone.
PS of course, everyone with a degree, especially those with higher degrees will always tell you that you MUST get a degree to have a good job like them, not true...I constantly get job offers from good companies and I have no degree.

I know this thread is sort of necroed, but I figured I'd respond in case the OP is still lurking around somewhere. Hey There, you say you don't want to work because of the freedom it takes from you, but I've found that I have a lot more freedom to do what I want now that I have a regular paycheck to provide me with money to spend on the things I enjoy.
As far as online work, do you have any interest in learning programming? There are a lot of books out there that teach it, if you're really insistent on not taking any college courses at all, and a good programmer can make a lot of money, because it's a highly sought-after skill. Just something to think about. Of course, if all you're interested in is the money, and you have an official AS diagnosis, you can apply for disability benefits. I hear it's not much, but it's better than nothing.
