Why would you have a favorite color. Is there a difference between bleu and red apart from the wavelength?

Different tastes in aesthetics.

Also intrinsic or developed emotional responses to colors relating to experiences involving that color in some way. For example, an adult who likes the color red might have happy memories of a beloved red bicycle. I'd bet you'd get a higher percentage of people whose favorite color is red in children of firefighters than in the general population.
Blue = the ocean or the sky on sunny days, green = trees and plant life, black = shadows and darkness. If you are in some way attracted to the things the color represents, you are likely to also be attracted to the color. It's a functional response of the brain, in the same idea as 'fight or flight' responses such as jerking your hand back from a hot stove or jumping back from a spider. This part of the brain produces an action command very, very quickly, much faster than our reflexive response to, say, a stop light turning from red to green. But it gains speed at the sacrifice of deep reasoning. Color preference is in the same area of the brain and performs the same function as the brain's basic understanding of 'good to eat' vs 'bad to eat' that tells use without the need to taste that cow manure smells 'bad.' It's a functional response tied to emotion, and not one even Aspies can fully escape. It doesn't indicate low intelligence, and lack of it doesn't indicate high intelligence.

Noone was asking me what my favorite color is till I started doing some personality quizzes as teenager but I had favorite colors for my whole life.

I don't remember what was my favorite color when I was a toddler but my mom says I was fascinated by colors and I could name color shades (turquoise, lime, raspberry etc, not just blue or red) before I was 3 - early special interest. So I guess I could have a favorite color back then just noone remembers what it was.

But I have clear memory of what my favorite color was when I was preschooler - indigo, the mixture of purple and blue. I remember thinking that a thing is beautiful and wanting to have it when I seen something indigo and I wanted clothes of that color(although there was not much color choice in shops so I rarely could get any).

My next favorite color was dark grass green. I desperately wanted to have carpet of that color in my room when I was young teenager but my parents never agreed. They were saying my room would be too dark.

As older teenager I favorited the red color. I don't remember how it all started but it stays my favorite color for over 10 years now and I don't feel like it is ever going to change.
Actually my favorite color is maroon (dark, deep red) but any combination of red and black is fine as long as the red doesn't come into pink range.
