My AS partner for the most part enjoys holding me for long periods of time, he also seems to want ( and enjoy ) kissing and yes passionate kissing. He really hates being touched by others.

And then other times he finds he difficult to touch me let alone kiss me! Can be very confusing at times. Now though I am beginning to not take it so personally and through joining this forum am at last after almost 11months beginning to understand.

Though even we don't really understand. I think my wife was AS as well. We would each have difficulty understanding that the other needed space - sometimes your own needs are more important than the empathy of similar experience..

Do you mean being touched by people or fabric, or both?

I don't like being touched in both circumstances.
I don't like being hugged, I don't like being tickled
I don't like being surprised.
My reaction to unexpected surprises is that I respond as though the person is about to hit me, so basically I move suddenly or lower my head. People must think that I get beaten up regularly for me to respond like that.

My sensitivity to fabrics is a slightly big issue.
My chest area and front torso area is sensitive to fabrics, I just don't like fabric touching this area. When the fabric does touch this area I always pull my t-shirt or shirt away from that area and up to my neck. When I was young my mum used to comment on why I had my shirt above my chest and hanging over my jacket collar.
Sometimes when I am sat at home I put my hands under my shirt to prevent the fabric from maiking contact, if this didn't help I usually pull the whole front of my shirt away from my chest or take my shirt off and sit chest naked.
In the UK I constantly have to negotiate with the weather to try and find a suitable time to take off my shirt. In public this is a no no...

I do, probably in the mid-range of people in this thread. I can stand touch, but it's a willful effort. My internal reaction when anyone touches me is, "WHAT THE F__K ARE YOU DOING???! !! !" If people only knew how nice we are to them, compared to how we initially feel inside.

I like to be touched when the time is right, but if not I don't.

I hate hugs..I go into a mini panic whenever anyone wants to hug me...Often i have flat out refused....I have learned to handle handshakes ok..but they affect me..similar to the way too much eye contact affects me...
I can be very cuddly with my boyfriend, but I HATE it when he grabs at my stomach..I hate having my stomach touched.(i think this is why he does it)
I can't stand the feel of new clothes..esp. poly cotton shirts..i can feel all the synthetic fibers poking at me.
I end up changing my clothes way too much in the quest of something that I will feel comfortable wearing..I feel choked by high necked clothes, so I cut the necks out of all my t-shirts.

Well said.

Although often I find it's difficult to know which is more important at any given moment.

The problem I have is the sensations when I touch certain materials with my hands. My hands are ultra sensitive to the textures of things. I cannot stand the feeling of cardboard or rough paper, they are the worst... literally so unpleasant it can make me give a shudder.

I always wear gloves when carrying boxes and will not even entertain the idea of reading a book with anything but very smooth paper (then with heavy lotion)

I have to keep my hands really lotioned up because it is really a lot worse when they are dry.

If I have to liken the sensations to a sound, some touch is like someone scratching thier nails down a chalkboard.

Generally I do choose to wear clothing with finer fabrics, but it is touching certain textures (including many clothing) with my hands that drives me up a wall.

I have this problem too...very much so. It is most unpleasant and really does that thing with my teeth...like when someone runs their nails down a blackboard.

One of the funniest problems that I had (given modern culture) was that I could not stand denim. I've found that as long as I wear only very well worn jeans, it's okay though. But talk about something that makes one stand out.

I don't like being touched softly and I don't like itchy clothes.

Only my mum, step-dad and nanna can touch me, NO ONE else.

I have sensitive feet, too. I prefer not to wear shoes, but since I work, I have to (I even have to wear steel-toe boots at work, and that's a pain trying to find comfortable ones of those). I can't wear shoes without socks (unless they are sandals, but I have a hard time finding good sandals) but I can't have my socks rolled down. This really bothered me when that style became popular, since I didn't want to look like an idiot with shorts and calf-high socks, but couldn't stand to have them rolled up either. Fortunately, they came out with those footie type socks for men, so I could wear them, and they caught on, so people wouldn't think I was gay or something.

The shoes I have now, which are the most comfortable I have ever found, are Reebok black hi-tops (TYL2- 1539). I got these when I went to England last (in '99) and wore them nearly out, then they sat in my closet a year, then I had to wear them because my other shoes got wet, and found out the Reeboks were much more comfortable ('fits like a glove' comes to mind), so I searched and found them and bought a new pair of exactly the same model shoe. The new ones feel great too. (the reason this is remarkable is that the shoe was discontinued for 3-4 years and only came back on a limited basis; they aren't everywhere.)

I'll buy some socks that look just like the pack of socks I bought last time, but they'll have slipped in 5% rayon or something, and I'll get home from work and take them off, and my ankles and feet will be red from them, and itch all evening and night.

I only like it when one person touches me, and not if that person pokes me in the ribs.
If anyone else touches me, especially if it is a guy, I feel a really gross feeling all over, radiating from the place where he touched.
