I avoid crowds whenever I come across them. If such crowds are in a place of familiarity, then I'm OK because there is not much stimuli.

I can handle large crowds (I.E malls, theatres, family gathering ect) in short bursts, 30 minutes max, after that I begin to shut down, can't respond as fast, talk as well I stare more, can't think clearly, lights are brighter and sounds are louder.

I am always expecting it so yes I can. But I always zone out and lose track and go off in my own world. I use a distraction to deal with it.

I don't really like them, but I do find them rather tolerable. It also depends on how big the crowd is. At my anime convention, I have to deal with this from time to time. It's something I've probably gotten used to more and more each time. I do have a hard time handling long lines though. This is a recent issue that I've noticed about me. I become extremely overwhelmed by waiting in longer lines than at say a grocery store. An example would be at my anime convention or at an amusement park. Again, I become very overwhelmed by the long wait times due to not having a very good concept of time. It's also due to the fact that I want to do other things instead of just waiting all day for one ride. All of that can overwhelm me then end up causing a huge meltdown in the end.

I usually dislike crowds, but in terms of sensory issues, I already trained myself to be tolerant from it. I'm rather used to the chaos long enough not to get meltdowns or sensory overload in a middle of a crowd.
However, depending at the situation, I'm not able to participate well or listen because I still lack control of filters. Unable to listen to seminars, sermons, concerts, announcements and the like because I kept hearing people around me, and not what I'm supposed to/wanted to listen or watch...

As long as I'm not the majority's attention, and still able to focus and know where 'north' is, I'll be fine even I'm alone.
But I'll be safer if I'm with someone I know by simply focusing at that person and knowing where he/she is.
