I use a particular brand of CBD oil. It helps with several aspects of autism. You also don't get high since no THC. I've also read about a strain developed for a kid with Asperger's in Studio City, California. I went there and asked about it. It wasa strain with high CBD and low THC. It sounded like a strain developed in Colorado for kids with epileptic seizures that was very effective. The only problem I had with the oil was when I tried a different brand that they assured me was the same. It didn't work for me and it took a month or more before I realized it. When I got the original brand, it started working within a couple of days.
What brand worked for you :?:

The brand is Hempotion. It should be on the label. They make a higher dose one now that I use. It doesn't have Hempotion on the label, buts it's made by the same company. I also use edibles to sleep...

I smoke weed.
Usually not very much at a time, though. Usually just a few tokes from a one hitter.
Yeah, I find it helps with various symptoms.. but I do also just like the feel of it's recreational effects.

That's a shame.

It's incredibly easy to obtain here. Everyone who smokes it knows at least 3-6 people who sell it. And then there are the dispensaries.. lol there are over 80 of them in the city right now - until they're regulated by various levels of government over the coming months, it's pretty much a free for all and almost anyone can walk in off the street and buy pot or oils/edibles etc.

Glad to find this thread as I've been wondering about this subject. I'm in Colorado and have heard so many good and positive things about how marijuana helps people. I've tried it numerous times in different ways (smoke, vape, edible chocolate, edible gummies, sativa, indica, etc) and every single time it has made me feel paranoid, uncomfortable, tired. It's never a pleasant experience. When I tell people that they always come back with "oh you need to try ____ " and you can fill in the space with their favorite type. You need to try indica. You need to try vaping. You need to try edibles. So I think it will be different and I try it. The hours I'm on it are a waste, I can't work or concentrate or do anything, and it lasts on into the next day which is frightening because I can't 'get going' or shake it off.

I've read there are some people who are just affected this way - marijuana makes them paranoid and that's all there is to it. I've also wondered about AS and if it works differently with our systems or not. My son is on the spectrum and he finds that it is incredibly beneficial. Just a very low dose helps his social anxiety and helps him to be more functional. He has even held down a job and I believe it's because of this low dose that makes it possible to cope with going out into the world.

Typically I'm hypersensitive to any and all medications and can normally take half what is prescribed, for the same results. Even taking small amounts I find that I have the negative reaction.

Is it just *some* people who are wired to not be able to deal with it or does the AS brain have something to do with it?

It just affects people differently, regardless of neurology. If it causes you anxiety and paranoia I'd just stay away from it. Different strains have different effects as does pure CBD vs THC, but those effects are generally very subtle and nuanced imo. If it's not for you, it's just not for you. That being said, if it helps your son's symptoms and he's pretty stable on it, I'd say he shouldn't change a thing-- it's actually healthier than most of the drugs the pharma pushers would have him take for the same relief. Just because it's legal here now doesn't mean that you have to do it, if people keep pushing you to try it just tune them out. I'm all for the current legalization, but I don't condone others peer pressuring people to do it-- it's just not for everyone, and that's the kind of stuff that will get it banned again.

Oh I know I don't have to do it since it's legal here now. :) It comes up pretty regularly as people share their great results from using it, or how they have stopped taking medications and use low dose marijuana instead (with no side effects). When I comment that it's just not for me it seems no one just accepts that and leaves it alone. They always want me to try their kind or their way and insist it's great.

It may be great for them but it just isn't for me. I think I've tried enough of them now to say across the board, it doesn't click with me for some reason. I don't know why.
