don't have another just for your son. onlies have higher self-esteem and tend to be better adjusted than kids with siblings. get him involved in scouting or a hobby group if he wants more social interaction.

Three, that I know of.

In your mind how many kids is better for a family?
That depends on the parents' ability and willingness to raise them in a happy, healthy, safe and secure environment to become sane, employed, law-abiding adults.

Yes, by about 15 years.

I think that you should discuss this matter with your marriage partner first.

I'm 69 and have one wife, five children, twelve grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. This is the most important thing in my life.

I'm 18 and have no kids, but I would like to adopt a child one day when I'm in my late 30's.

Your late 30's may be too late.

It varies from state to state, but the cutoff age here in California is 35; so if a Californian wants to adopt, then he or she should start the process early.

My co-worker was turned down at the age of 33, because she was told that the process would unlikely be completed before she turned 35.

I don't have any kids and I'm way past child-bearing age.

That being said, I don't think there's an "ideal" number of kids. It depends on you. It's better to have one kid that one takes good care of than four kids that one neglects. I understand your desire to give your child a sibling, but then again, you'll be the one raising him or her, so scan your heart (and energy level) to see if it feels right to you at this point. And I don't think 39 is too old, especially today. Some people are older, more mature and make excellent parents.

I have 12 kids.

Just kidding, I don't have any.

Families of all sizes can work, certainly 2 children is very viable. Equally, only children aren't doomed to loneliness.

Your age should not be a concern, but your health might be, it depends.

The question is whether you and your partner feel you can give another child a good home, and whether you really want another one.

No kids.
I am 41 and living in semi-supported housing, and I did until now not felt desire of having kids, or undertaking action to evoke kids, because managing my own is consuming all time, and I guess I will never have kids.
But I have three :cat: :cat: :cat:

Thanks for telling me that, I didn't think about cutoff ages for adopting.

Ok plans changed, I'll start working towards adopting a child when I'm in my early 30's or late 20's. (Depending on what the cut off age is where I'll be living during that time.)

I have none & don't want any. I have lots of things that could be inherited & I don't think I'd make a good parent because of my issues.
