I don't know. I can tell you that I had very good luck with choosing a roommate though.

I sympathize with you, over the roommate situation. Something rather funny happened to my daughter, who has AS but was undiagnosed at the time. She has always been challenged to keep things neat, and being forced to share a dorm room, her messy ways were driving her roommate wild. What finally happened, after numerous arguments and clashes, was that the roommate chose to move into someone else's room, because my daughter was such a slob. So, she got to keep the room all to herself.

What an interesting story!

I hope you're managing now!

It's a small college that's over 60% female. There are only two dorms for men. One of them is coed, that is the one I live in. I don't have many choices. It's an odd situation.
I have to choose someone who lives in my dorm who's in my year. I think I know everyone that fits that and it seems like they all have roommates. I hope that clears things up.

Hey buddy. Here's my advice:

Go to the mixer, walk with your head held high because you are proud of who you are. Just for this one night keep your head up and look people in the eye, make alot of eye contact. Like someone said earlier, alot of people there will be nervous, but you have used your aspie powers to think about it ahead of time so you will have the Aspie Advantage(TM).

Be a detective who is going into the room undercover because he wants to find out who all these people really are. There will be people there that have common interests with you, and those are the one's you'll want to learn the most about. Remember that one way to trick them into sharing info about themselves, is to offer a bit of info about yourself as well.

If you find a room-mate, great. If you don't, no big deal, the school will put you with someone else who didn't find a room-mate and the chances of you getting along with that person are about equal to what they would be if it were someone you selected yourself after meeting them for 5 minutes at the mixer. Don't worry about not getting "picked" by somebody else. You are equally the one doing the selecting. It's really no big deal either way.

I mean all this quite sincerely, I am not trying to be sarcastic or anything.

Best of Luck

UPDATE: I poked my head in the mixer and realized I didn't have to worry, all 6 of them at the mixer were female. None of the guys showed up. Although there is one especially for my dorm on the fifth. :?
