In my town even kids' dentists only have access to local anesthesia syringes, but I'm doing fine with it. I can endure the pain for a while when its not numbing.

i have found that wearing headphones piping in music, takes a lot of the sting outta the situation.

I suppose if I got the versed and gas, I wouldn't mind as much being strapped down :drunken: but I understand people's mileage may vary. have you tried the headphones with music playing while in the dental chair?

the thing about the headphones is that they can also pipe in pink or white noise which blocks the sound of the dentist's drill and tools.

depends on how tall/large you are, for the papoose board. they can sedate you if they are so equipped.

When I was in high school a hundred years ago, the science teacher brought in a hypnotist, and he hypnotized a couple of kids... very, very interesting. So naturally I tried it on some of my friends, and low and behold it worked. One of my "patients" was a girl who was very worried about all the lines she had in the school play. I gave her post hypnotic suggestions that she would be all relaxed, and that her lines would come to her as if they were her own. It worked. Fast forward to 1984 and Im driving my 10 year old daughter to the dentist and she is super anxious. We are in the car driving!, and I told her I was going to hypnotize her, and slay her worries... Listen to my voice... You will become more and more relaxed as I count backwards from 10 to 1. When she was under, I told her that when the drill started she would immediately be on the beach in Rehobeth, Delaware... her favorite place in the world, and she would be relaxed in the dentist's chair. A couple of years ago she reminded me of that crazy parenting skill of mine... she said that she still finds herself on that sweet beach when the dentist's drill starts. Could you give hypnosis a try?
