Very interesting. In the UK (and almost certainly the US), politicians are always telling us that "tax-and-spend" can't possibly work. Yet here we have a country doing just that, and its economy hasn't collapsed. Personally I've never objected to high taxes as long as the money is used to provide good welfare support.
