I think it's because they are essentially pack animals and they focus on us because we are different. However, I think most NTs have risen above that and/or they know it's not socially acceptable to attack us. I really haven't had much trouble since leaving high school, where, of course, the football airhead jocks were the worst.

I think jocks are trying to get the girl, and they'll do anything to get a girl, even if It means bullying others. I guess they think that bullying will make them seem tough to girls.

probably

Especially if the bullying takes the form of protecting the girl from the creepy, disgusting nerd who doesn't belong anywhere less than a mile away from her.

Why has anything bad ever happened? Because bad people do exist even though I like to give them the benefit of the doubt, some people just aren't good.

Actually, even though I of course acted differently, the girls in high school thought I was cute. Long hair was in vogue then for boys, and I had a full head of light auburn, curly hair down to the middle of my back. So maybe I was being 'punished' for that. I think that it had a lot to do with being a non-conformist, though. This is back before they invented Asperger's, so we Aspies were just the weirdos.

Why? I don't understand why NT's hate us for our lack of communicating and for being socially awkward. Can someone tell me why? Also regarding the title of this topic, I understand that there are lots of people who like autistic people, I am just speaking for the ones who don't.

I think atacks to an isolated outsider enhances the group, what "justify" such actions.

People often don't like what they can't understand. Perhaps with better awareness and education around Autism things will improve. One of the reasons I think self advocacy is soo important, although I sometimes worry that all our efforts at self advocacy will be counteracted by curebie autism-speaks types, so maybe we're just doomed to always be a discriminated against minority... I don't understand how these people don't see the hell they're creating for their kids!

We're also not the best at sticking up for ourselves. I'm 22 and still trying to learn. If you're vulnerable you will be picked on.
