When I was at girl scout camp we had showers, but I chose not to use them. There was no hot water, but we were only allowed to shower at night when the air was chilly. They would also make us all get in line and time us 5 minutes each before they opened the curtain on us. I decided there was no point in engaging in that nonsense.

I guess that means I went 2 weeks without showering. I swam in a pool with a lot of chlorine every day though, so it killed any smell. also, they had warm water rinsing showers at the pool, but no soap or shampoo there though.

I don't think I could have done that as an adult, but kids don't smell as bad.

I shower every morning, and sometimes even take 2 showers if it's been so humid I've been sweating. Even when I go camping, there's usually showers on the campsite, so I'm able to take a shower once a day whenever possible. I'm just self-conscious about making sure I don't have BO, so I even go as far as to wear that Certain Dri antiperspirant at night, and deodorant during the day. As for my hair, I've trained myself not to wash it every day, because it does dry out my hair, and now my hair looks better as a result.

When I was little, I used to take a shower only once a week. Now, I shower 5 days a week, in the evening for ease of time. The other 2 nights I have activities in the evening and don't shower because I don't have enough time or don't feel like it. I used to go 2 days without a shower, but I am trying to not do that anymore. When I don't shower, no one seems to notice, but I feel gross.

otherwise i would feel like i am sleeping on a "chewing gum splattered asphalt" of a subway station entrance.

This could've been written by me.

I always have a shower when I know I'm not going out for the day (typically when I come back from work). I cannot understand why many people have a shower before going to work.

I shower twice a day almost every day. The first one is a full shower, but during the second one I only wash my arms and face and then stand under the water for a bit. It's not as much about cleanliness as it is about routine.

Showering tends to be unpleasant for me. I do not use it so much. Water easily becomes too hot or too cold. Contact with it is NOT a nice experience. I still bathe or get a shower rather rarely. In November 2014 my first bathing in this month was at last day of the month, so I do not bathe myself and do not wash my head for more than 4 consecutive weeks. I have not support from my family in my mental health problems. I am generally slow, "sluggish", somewhat "sleepy", getting neuroleptic (paroxetine) appears to additionally lower my mental and motoric activity. My mentality is not so interested in socialisation.

I never get the feeling that I'm 'dirty'! I can go for ages without showering and I don't feel/smell dirty. And if it ain't dirty, don't clean it.

Perhaps I'm letting too much out but... I think the shampoo/cologne companies are making way too much money out of the hype!

I don't even know what that means but it sounds right. They're just trying to get money out of you, just like everyone else in this sad world we're forced to live in.

Fortunately, we're not forced to conform, at least, not in the country I've been set down in!

I'm not being forced to conform, nor is anyone trying to get money out of me. I like to be clean, it feels really weird if I'm not and its a major part of my routine and can't cope if I don't have a shower.

Good for you if you don't feel the need to shower, but I do, I like showers, for me showers are good.

Also, I don't think this world is sad, I quite like it.

I'm happy for you!

I shower and wash my hair every single morning. It helps me wake up & I actually enjoy being in the water. I feel disgusting and grotty if I have not showered by about 10am, like on weekends sometimes. In winter I don't usually shower at night. Too cold. But in summer I definitely do.

I shower at least once a day. Many days, if I'm exercising, twice. I enjoy the sensual experience of a shower. I'm not affected by sensory issues.

Interesting thread as I debate taking a shower or not lol PS the less stressed I am, the more I shower, the more stressed I am, the less I want to do it...I still do it daily, although sometimes it might be over 24 hours...ugh

I usually only shower when i "feel" dirty. Or physically have dirt on me. Like when i go to work, i like to shower when i get home to wash of the sweat and dirt. But if i stay at home and don't do anything physical, i don't see the need to shower. The longest i have gone is probably a week.
