The most important thing is 'show don't tell', which you've probably heard before.

It's also important to remember that you don't need to fit every symptom in, and you can even contradict a few. The diagnosis only requires some of the symptoms to be present, and very few autistics have all of them.

Some other things to consider: you mentioned a fascination and 'unique proficiency' with weapons, that sounds like it could be an autistic special interest. Most literature about autism is written with male subjects, so there will be a few differences with a female character.

I haven't watched Naruto, but I'll check out your fic when I have some time.

If you'd like examples of show-don't-tell autistic writing, the first that spring to mind are Lord of the Rings (due to the immensely detailed world - Tolkien invented a whole history and several languages for it) and many of Orwell's books (1984 and Animal Farm in particular deal with the stress of living in a world governed by inscrutable social rules - the Ministry of Truth that spreads lies, being forced to agree that 2+2=5, the animals' constitution that keeps changing to suit the pigs' convenience).

I'm also writing a book staring an autistic character. I am basing him on me, but he is also a purely fictional character. He will have characteristics and abilities that I have made up.

Good ideas have been given in this thread. I may use some of them myself.

Isn't this in the wrong section?

This post should be here from my understanding of the forum.

It has to do with autism and it has to do with writing. So it's really either/or. If you think a thread is in the wrong section, you can report it here though.
