Morning don't exist on weekends. I stay in bed (not really sleeping, but certainly not getting up) until 11:30-ish on weekends.
On weekdays, I'm up 6 AM. I don't really mind getting up itself, but I do dread going to school after I'm done and/or facing people.

I don't sleep very much. I get five hours of interrupted sleep on a good night, so getting up doesn't bother me much, as I'm usually bored by then. However, if you wake me up - like I was physically sleeping, and you came in, and yelled "Heather! Get up!" - I would be either very cranky or very groggy for the next half hour. Usually cranky.

I work best in the evening, worst in the afternoon, and reasonably well in the morning.

In the winter months I really struggle to wake up and get up. Now it's Spring I'm able to get up pretty early and have my 'me' time in the morning, even if husband is at home.

Thanks, Moldorer, for starting this thread. I had no idea that I'm not the only one who doesn't function well in the AM.

My worst job was nursing, day shift. Having to be nice to people at 7 am was incredibly difficult. Now I know it's hard. I still do it 2 days a week, in fact I get up at 4:30am, and I get my s**t together to function well, but it requires reserves of strength that ultimately deplete me elsewhere.

Best work shift was 3 pm to 11 pm. Get up at 9, do whatever, get ready for work at around 1pm, it was great. Not good for a social life, but who needs one of those?

Really slowly is the way to wake up for me - regardless of what I have to do. I have to let the world in slowly, I think and I just LOVE my bed so much!

WOW, I remember like a half hour delay, the sensitivity to light, etc... Today, I often just jump up. In fact, I had to tone it down. Just out of curiousity, how old are those that have the half hour delay getting up? I think I lost that in like my early twenties.

What's a half hour delay? You mean half an hour between waking up and getting out of bed?

Sleeping is hard, waking up is harder. My mom sometimes has to grab my hands and pull me so I'll wake up... otherwise I'll be late for school.

I despise getting out of bed in the morning. It’s so bad I’ve always wondered if it bordered on a sleep disorder. I can not just hop out of bed when the alarm goes off – I hit snooze at least 3 or 4 times. Sometimes I literally feel like I am sleepwalking when I finally drag myself out of bed. I often feel this intense depression/irritation, especially during the winter months (it goes away though after I’m actually up and walking around).

The number of hours I sleep has very little to do with it. If I go to bed at 10:00pm and am woken at 6:00am by an alarm clock, I feel like crap. But if I go to bed at 2:00am and wake naturally at 10:00am, I feel fine, even though it is still eight hours. I always seem to sleep best between the hours of 3:00 and 9:00, meaning if I have to get up at 6:00, I’ve probably only gotten about three hours of decent sleep.

I read somewhere once that most people with ADD/ADHD have an altered circadian rhythm, meaning that their internal clock doesn’t match the natural day/night schedule. Perhaps this can apply to some aspies as well.

I think you phrased it right, I just misunderstood
I used to have that in school. Now, if I have to be up for uni, I just get up straight away, the longer I stay in bed after waking up, the less likely I am to get up in time.
I have to take tablets at the same time in the morning now as well so have to get up early whether I want to or not now :(
There have been days where I've just felt so crap though that I've stayed in bed till about 3 in the afternoon because I just couldn't face getting up

This has been an interesting thread, as I know my circadian rhythm differs from most people's.

I am much like Erilyn. No matter what time I go to bed, if I'm woken up before 9 or 10 am I feel exhausted. (My dad's pretty much the same way, and he shares some of my other eccentricities). Even when I was a little kid, I didn't wake up until 9 am. Most children wake up between 4 am and 6 am naturally, but I never have in my entire life. When I was in elementary school, I would cry and whine when my mom woke me up at 7 am. If I have to get up at that time at the current stage of my life, I feel a sense of dread all the time about not getting enough sleep. I'm pretty sure my 6:00 am is most people's 2:00 am.

Luckily for me, I work a 4:00 pm to midnight shift. :D

I am a night owl, but I did spend most of last Summer being up by around Midday which is impressive for me... I like to get some daylight. If I wake before around 10, I tend to feel terrible, but alas, no amount of sleep seems to suffice for me anyway as I am constantly exhausted and have forgotten what it is like to feel alert and full of energy. Currently, I stay up all night and am rarely in bed before 9-10am.
