Politeness is not a magic wand that gets you everything you want. Some people are polite and their life is catastrophic, other people are jerks and they drive around in expensive cars. It's a matter of luck.

Politeness is just cool.

I don't get most things I want.

It's cool provided you don't overdo it.
On the other hand, politeness and aspieness form an awkward combination.

Sounds like you want the magic bullet. It don't exist.

I don't see how as it forms a codified set of rules to follow. Maybe we are just awkward and that is all there is to it. But, the rules at least serve as a guide post.

Again, if you want the magic bullet, again, it ain't there and ain't going to happen.

And, what makes you think it's any different for NT's? You don't think they are awkward?

so it happens.

i like to imagine that those jerks are, in fact complete suckups and pansies to an unseen superior or boss, who provide means to said expensive cars. its funnier that way, and it's bound to happen sometimes.

I've found that people like it when you are polite to them, and there's a better chance that they will be polite to you.

Being polite does work most of the time.

Even if it doesn't work, you have your politeness to fall back on.

^Exactly! Being nasty just leads to more nastiness in the world, and really, who wants that?

Yeah, but some people are nasty and everyone respects them.

Or maybe they are afraid. Plus, not everyone is nasty, so that's something important to remember.

“You never really understand a person until you consider things from his point of view... Until you climb inside of his skin and walk around in it.”

“People generally see what they look for, and hear what they listen for.”

“Atticus, he was real nice."
"Most people are, Scout, when you finally see them.”

[Good quotations from To Kill A Mockingbird]

It's a matter of pecking order. The alpha people are respected by everyone else and can do anything they want without consequences.

Not all alpha people are like that, though.
