I often feel like a kid wearing an adult costume.

Ehh I can take care of myself and know when to get serious but, what can be considered childish for me is my naivete and ignorance of social stuff. My cousin in-law once got mad me because I was letting my baby cousin boss me around and I opened up a first aid kit for her which I thought was a pencil case.

Don't some people say that Aspies look a lot younger than they really are. People mistake me for a younger teen when I shave off my hair.

I think it also seeming like a big kid also has to do with teens trying to grow up too fast and me not doing it makes me seem "childish" because I'm not drinking, smoking, and having sex all the time, one teenager thought I was strange for not doing any of that, its like they automatically assumed I do it just because other teens do, in a mental hospital I was in almost all the teens did alcohol and/or drugs some 16 year old looked like he was at least 23.

Just remember, growing older is mandatory; growing up is optional.

^Well put!^
I'm still a little boy trapped in a middle aged body. Other than having alcoholic beverages a couple of days a week, I'm still pretty much living like a third or fourth grader, and a very spoiled sissy one at that (minus the wealth, unfortunatly).

For the most part I feel much younger than I am, and I can be a big kid in some ways.

For one thing I can be easily excitable. For instance, for a while I have seen a crane from my window and it still excites me and I watch it from my window every day. I often take up the binoculars to get a better view of it, because it excites me to see a crane there. It's the only crane I've ever seen anywhere near up close IRL.

I'm physically a 16 year old arts school student, emotionally a small child, and mentally an unemployed high school graduate trying to figure out what to do with his life.

Still a big kid in many, many ways. I can't even relate that well to other adults my age or older because they seem so genuinely "grownup" while I feel like I'm faking being a grownup.

^^^Yah - me too.

Heck I'm 49 and play with model trains and LEGO. Also have two plush toy animals on my night-table (my wife bought them for me). 8O
