Totallly childish at 53. Adult ways of life have never really appealed to me.

Appropriate or inappropriate, it just don't get you dates. And the ones that think it's cute, well, all I can say is that usually did not work out. And the ONE relationship I did try to do more 'sophisticated' things like say stuff to show appreciation, it creeped her out. I quote "You always say those things and it makes me wonder what you're up to." I know the words were not creepy. At least the I think so. Here would be an example:
"Good morning. How's the prettiest things this side of sunshine."

Too much? Too saccharine? Too idiotic? or maybe delivery?

I dunno, but I suck at it. If I could manufacture this, I would put Dyson out of business.

I've been told I walk around with a bewildered look on my face. I look naive. People mistake me for being really young.

I like video games and cartoons. My sense of humor is immature at times. A lot of times. If I could get away with it, I'd dress up for Halloween.

So I guess I am childish.

My childishness appears as sophisticated though this might be because one of my special interest is a thing other 12 years would like.

People often see me as naïve, absurd, silly, and oblivious.

I have no idea how other people see me. Been told I look angry a lot though.

All you have to do to offset that impression is to growl.

Ummm, I did growl once (I was told) and it was not appreciated. Apparently I make vocalizations sometimes I am not aware of.

I often get a chuckle from people who have intelligence.

I've been guilty of being called childish a number of times though I try not to be.

I have found many times that has been said to me that the other party is actually being just as childish if not more. Unfortunately, I am also confrontational enough to argue back and then, well I guess it just makes me as petty. Probably more so since I am learning that what I think I am putting out there is not what they are perceiving. The old "Have you been told you're offensive when you think you're polite and reasonable." That happens to me all the time.

The confrontational part is odd. I really hate conflict. I get knotted all knotted up if conflict is even in the picture. But when I see inaccuracies or just plain fallacies, I am compelled to correct. That always wins over people, eh? Not good with my students either because I call on their crap. Had one student, in class, try to dress me down because I dared to reply to an email re-stating the requirements for the final project and that if she did not appear in class it would count as an absence. I was informed it upset her. So, since she dragged it out in front of class, I went with it. Had to go so far as to even pull up the email and put it on screen and asked her to define what area was offensive and 'made her feel bad.'. When that didn't work, she tried to say she couldn't burn a DVD because her 'computer didn't have a burner'. And, this is when I get real hot. Seriously? In all of Manhattan and the schools (which she had full access to) she couldn't burn a DVD? So, yeah, that's when the compulsion to correct takes over. Having happened two weeks ago, I can now say, upon MUCH reflection, I should have just said, "I am sorry you feel that way. If you have a complaint you are free to do so with your adviser." Took two weeks of reflection to come to that conclusion. How's that for spontaneous thinking?

I'd say that this describes me pretty accurately as well, all but the age bit.

I have never found any person in my entire life that does not feel younger inside than outside.

^^ Not sure if your reply was meant for the bit where I say "all but the age bit". Just to clarify, what I meant is that I'm not 23.

Gathered that. I was just commenting that it was not an abnormal thought.

I've stayed away from my parents on New Year's Eve day for five years in a row because I felt betrayed when Pete Quaife passed away. I broke the chain this year. I'm there. I was acting like a 21 year old Mod (no surprise there).

Happy Birthday, Pete - by the way.

I'm glad I broke the chain. I was acting immature.
