My maternal unit as a child was a MASTER manipulator.

She was classically Narcissistic Personality Disorder, and she had 2 golden children, and a Scapegoat (me).

My mother used all the levels of abuse to control her children, and by any means necessary.

She was under so much control as a matter of fact, that when a Rift between me and herself occurred, my Siblings were commanded to cut off all forms of contact from me, and anyone who associated with me. This was passed on to my Uncle (mothers flesh and blood older brother), and my GrandFather (mothers flesh and blood father).

My Grandfather died without seeing his own daughter, because he refused to follow her command not to talk to me or see me.

My mother was a manipulators as well, a "user". I think that i have developped since early stage, a personnality / or attitude which matches a manipulator's expectation. Now i attract them like a magnet. :(

Indeed, among manipulators' techniques, affective isolation is must.

No worries, your English is fine...I was hesitant to mention that because I didn't want you to feel self conscious, I just needed an opening for the question. In high school French was my foreign language, but that was 20 years ago-- your English is well beyond my French, lol. I basically remember: Ca va? Ca va! (don't know how to do the special characters on the keyboard). Oh yeah, and: je t'aime...for when I really feel like getting slapped by the opposite sex.

Another technique is discreetly make holes in your boat and call it smart. :D

I try to seal off the holes in all boats and it makes them angry. It is really not smart. It is love / friendship.

Yeah I was taught don't mix up j'adore and j'taime...could be awkward. :D

I'm sure it's not easy reading and writing in another language, I really respect your willingness to engage with others in a foreign language. (That goes for any person who's native tongue is foreign and may be reading this).

I noticed cello on your profile, so I suppose the only question left asking is: Claude Debussy or Camille Saint-Saëns?

Now all I want to do is talk about impressionism and composers :D, but I'm not gonna steal your thread.

I like Impressionism--except for "Impression" by Monet--the painting that gave the world the term "Impressionism."

Linking impressionism to this thread... if you want to spot a manipulator,

Put yourself in the shoes of the person,
imagine you are the person, saying and doing this and that,
and infer the person's objectives with your logic,

(knowing that manipulators are hiding their dubious and destructive objectives, by projecting a trustful and angelic image.)

Too polite to be honest.

Someone who expect you to be 'cool' and have no boundaries or limits, so that they can do whatever they want to you....

But at the same time they have clear boundaries and are aggressive and uptight about what they don't let people do to them.

You don't seem to like me, Laeti--for some reason. I don't know why.

You seem to think I'm a manipulator.

I'm glad I'm wrong.

I'm just as naïve as many people. I'm less gullible than I used to be, though.

I "seem to think" ? Why do you say that?

There is already a thread about what people think of you.
This is a thread about "How to spot a manipulator", this is nothing specifically related to you.
