My mother was a manipulators as well, a "user". I think that i have developped since early stage, a personnality / or attitude which matches a manipulator's expectation. Now i attract them like a magnet.
Indeed, among manipulators' techniques, affective isolation is must.

No worries, your English is fine...I was hesitant to mention that because I didn't want you to feel self conscious, I just needed an opening for the question. In high school French was my foreign language, but that was 20 years ago-- your English is well beyond my French, lol. I basically remember: Ca va? Ca va! (don't know how to do the special characters on the keyboard). Oh yeah, and: je t'aime...for when I really feel like getting slapped by the opposite sex.

Another technique is discreetly make holes in your boat and call it smart.
I try to seal off the holes in all boats and it makes them angry. It is really not smart. It is love / friendship.

Yeah I was taught don't mix up j'adore and j'taime...could be awkward.
I'm sure it's not easy reading and writing in another language, I really respect your willingness to engage with others in a foreign language. (That goes for any person who's native tongue is foreign and may be reading this).
