A nice droning background, like sitting far off to the side of a place with enough people that individual voices can't be discerned, or the wind/rain/frogs/crickets/waves is perfect b/c I can tune it out and in doing so greatly increase my focus on what I'm doing.
I find that a very low level background noise can be very relaxing.

If I'm hyperfocusing, then I won't notice the noise. But first I must reach that point where I am super-focused. It will take a while, but I'll lock onto whatever it is I'm studying or reading, and only really be aware of what I'm doing, instead of my surroundings.
Sometimes I never can focus, because what I'm reading is too boring .
The same holds true for me, in both instances.
