I think it is also the fault of the school system for not getting a handle on the bullying early on. Luckily, I had parents who got mad and fought when I was being bullied. Some people aren't so fortunate. Still, I would not have thought of hurting innocent people not involved in the bullying. It would have been all I could have done to defend myself against my attackers, who were much bigger than I was.

And I think parents must instill in the child a postive self schema in order to not let bullying wound one so deeply. When I was a kid, the "behavior problem" was the bully, not the quiet kid being bullied. There was a lot less emphasis on social learning and more emphasis on personal achievement.

Yeah, I envy you on that! If I was 10 years older, I probably would have done better in school, etc... because of the society then.(The culture was more homogenous and they cared more about acheivement) If I was even 15 years younger, I probably would have done better in school, etc... because I would have known what was going on. 8-( Just a 25 year span there that was bad, and I was almost dead center in it. 8-(

There's no getting around it. We go through hardship. As different as we are from others, it does the same thing to us as to anyone else.

It can make us unpleasant people. If we're lucky, maybe we'll be better people for it instead, but the rest of us...

This makes it all the more important for us to help and support one another. For everyone's sakes. It is our responsibility.
